Lack of Offense

You would think the Hawks lost today after reading this thread.

No Boone Myers, no Tevaun Smith, LD still limited, 20mph wind, a top 15 defense on the road and 2 turnovers (which Wisconsin had a lot to do with). Iowa overcame all those things and WON!

Some of you need to lighten up.

Exactly how much practice time did CJ have with the freshman rcvr? I think we'll see something different next week.

Exactly. Wisconsin D was great today. Missing Tevaun was also huge. We won and that's all that matters. CJ wasn't stellar today, but he still threaded the needle on a few passes and showed off his arm strength. Timing was off because Tevaun was gone.

This is why it's a team game. CJ could have played better, but really who cares? The team was there to pick him up when he wasn't doing well.

Do people have any idea how good Wisconsin D is ?? lol

And at home? I was mocked in another thread for saying that I don't care how we won there, just that we won.

C.J. had a bad day and you can't throw everything to Vandenberg. No complaints here.

To win against a tough D like that and playing without your deep threat in your passing game, on the road...take it and giggle.

Dare I say CJ got his 1 bad game of the season out of the way, yet we won on the road at Camp Randall? The OL and running game picked up CJ for a change. Yet, CJ still made a couple of throws you see on Sunday's.

Cj struggled but the offensive woes in my mind were more on protection and play calling then him.

This year however we managed to win a game like this.

I would have liked to have seen us spread them out on passing downs to force Schobert to guard a TE and not allow him to blitz or go 1 on 1 against a backup LT. Get that guy as far away from the LOS as possible.

Yes they let that guy go 1 on 1 against the back up LT... Huard commented that it was a bit "Arrogant"

I thought that was the biggest mistake.

But the defense nutted up like they have all year.

They absolutely did. Don't discount how much the D stymied their O, on the road. We now have a D that we should be able to rely on. These guys are solid. King allows 10 guys to play 2/3 of a field. It's a beautiful thing.

The fact that our QB had a bad game and we still won is what sticks out to me. That gives me more confidence going into the rest of the season. He can play poorly on the road against a top 25 team and we still win.

I'm more worried about Canzeri's fumbling that CJ being off today. Its getting to the point where the only difference between Canzeri and Wadley is that Iowa recovers Canzeri's fumbles. If it doesn't get fixed its going to cost Iowa at least one game.

Agreed. Either Daniels needs to get healthy or someone else needs to emerge to take some of the workload off cazeri.

agreed. he's had 3 fumbles the past 4 games. I stated this in another thread that with JC seeming to have fumble woes and with the fact this has been the only season he hasn't been injured, and if LD doesn't get healthy (he looked a long way off, to me) then I think you need to think about burning Graham's RS. This needs to be an all hands on deck season. Not sure what injury DMX has, but he isn't getting looks. I will say that JC looks to be very good at blitz pickups.

We're so used to watching stale offense. Now there is some semblance of competence. But is this a good offense? Meh.

Points scored so far:

31, 31, 27, 62, 10

31 seems like a lot. But for a team that is we hope will be top 20, I'm not so sure it is, given the competition.

We're so delirious, we don't get the fact that this team has not played its best game yet on offense.
