L-Monroe

So they run a 3-4 defense? Every team has stacked the box against Iowa so far this year. I would like to see Vandy come out firing with the no huddle to keep that defense honest. Then run Iso and dive plays right up the gut. Anything to keep Coker from trying to juke people.

No, they run a 3-3-5 defense. Much like Michigan did the last couple of years. Three lineman, three LB's and five in the secondary.

Yesterday, Marty had a writer from a paper down in LA that covers this team. He said that the team will stack the box for the run but will be susceptible to give up long pass plays. It will just be a matter of whether the hawks can convert these passes. He also said this team hung in a game with FSU and was ahead of TCU at half so they have hung with some decent competition early in games.

I'm afraid of a let down on Saturday. LA-Monroe looks like a pretty good mid-major opponent this year.

Am i stupid or does it seem like it will be alot easier to run the ball against a 3-3-5

Not if they still drop two safeties into the box. Doesn't matter what set-up you're starting with, just depends on where you're willing to risk starting their alignment.

Two emotional weeks in a row for Iowa...two consecutive weeks on the road for LMU. I would say that evens things out a bit.

This LMU team has played well against good competition. It will be interesting to see if Iowa takes a step forward after the comeback win...or a step backward. With the bye week coming up...Iowa should come out pretty jacked. If KF continues to make tweaks in the right direction (Bernstine, Alvis at end, Hyde at corner, Miller at safety), I think we win this game. I think the next changes are Bullock seeing more action at RB, plus more of Carl Davis in the DL. I think they need to see if he can play right now at this level and they need to give him reps.

3 - 3 - 5 is difficult to run against because your still going to face 8-9 man fronts, see Michigan last couple years, but that opens up our passing game and TE's over the middle if we decide to take advantage of it!

This is backed up into the endzone but you get the idea on their defensive look

In video games yes, in real life no. I say that not insultingly. In game systems the extra defender plays back, in the system they run they usually have 2 of the 5 playing around linebacker depth so it plays out more like a 3-5-3. Here's what it should mean though, COKER RUNNING OVER A BUNCH OF DB's ALL GAME LONG.

Their DB's have been pretty good tackling wise but coker houses db's, so this should be a great game for him especially after we pop a couple long passes. All I know is them giving Mcnutt and Davis single coverage often should mean a lot of passes to them. I still think we'll see more dropping back in zone then they've done so far this year with Cokers troubles and that should give him a chance to abuse some fools at the point of attack.

With the way this season has gone so far. We shouldn't take any team lightly. Seems like the Hawks are learning about themselves each game. Hopefully, this week week the Hawks have learned enough to put away L-M. It'd be nice to sit back and enjoy watching my team get an easy win.

they "hung" with FSU? I hope he thinks they will just "hang" with us on saturday. FSU beat them 34-0

Everyone needs to get through their heads that we WILL NOT go into a no huddle unless it's necessary, like the end of a game, 2 min drill, etc.

Obviously you didnt hear Ed Podolak say that the offense was going to implement the 2 min drill at some point in the game regardless of the score. You WILL NOT convince me of shat...
