Kyle Meyer Video

I was looking at some videos on the Utubes of next years class and found a video that has some glimpses of Kyle Meyer. Only uploaded a month ago and hadnt seen it posted around here.

Kyle is the white one.

It is very Iowa like to recruit the one white guy from his AAU team. But it will be nice to have some size that is somewhat skilled next year. Their AAU team would likely give the Hawks a game this season.

Good video, thanks. I should have left the audio off, as the dude yelling "all day man" + the words flashing on the screen made me spill coffee. All day after an uncontested fast break dunk? Hmmm, I am torn between being confused and wondering if he has signed with anyone yet. Throw some scholies out to random players on either team...we could use some of those dudes "all day man!"

Their team would MORE than give the Hawks a game.

Meyer and Woody are going to revolutionize the Hawk front court.

Hopefully, the coaches haven't totally ruined Basabe by trying to get him to add weight. Because a front line of a more seasoned White with Meyer and Woody would be formidable, particularly with Basabe doing his thing on the boards.

Basabe isn't playing poorly due to extra weight. Fran is trying to take pressure off of a player by putting it on himself by saying it.

I can't figure Basabe out, especially on the boards. Ok, adding weight might make him a step slower on the block, but he isn't a rebounding presence at all this year. I would think the added weight would help out in this department. He certainly seems to be on an island with respect to his interaction with his teammates.

I don't agree with the weight thing and Mel. His whole game is explosiveness off of offensive misses.

It wasn't strength. It was explosiveness.

Throwing on weight will help him hold his position with respect to pushing from other big men, but it can and seems to have reduced his explosiveness.

For the people who think it is an attitude/team thing, I know there has been a lot of speculation about Hubbard's departure, but it makes me wonder about him being Basabe's roommate.

weight can and is a bad thing on a player if it is not supposed to be there
as for Meyer i think it speak volumes about his talent of being on a team of mainly black players
the kid must have some talent and the athletic ability, to be a starter on that squad

This....

I have been saying this since Fran first floated this red herring. Basabe's problem is between his ears, not around his middle.

And Herby, he must be good because he plays on a team that is otherwise black? Really? He is good because he plays on a team full of other talented players.

Another fine analysis by DragonHerby. I had to read that a few times to make sure I read it right.

the two post you put up there are not my posts
and as for the only white player on a black player dominated team was meant as a compliment
and a backhand slap to the people that says Fran has not recruited athletes or can

I wish that kyle meyer could bring that dreadlocked guy along in his moving van.
Or one of the other high-flyers on that team.
When you see a team like that it makes you wonder how Iowa could be so vertically challenged as a Big Ten high Division 1 program. Hope that Fran can change it quickly. Meyer looks good in his few limited clips. At least he can dunk with great ease. And I think he can shoot. Two good things, that Iowa seems to lack this year.

I hope Mel gets his stuff together,or that Kyle can challenge him for minutes at the 4 next year...one way or another,we must get more production from out backline.

We need help everywhere, backline, frontcourt, backcourt, frontline, benchline, popcorn sellers...you name it,call it whatever...we need it.

I don't disagree with you JH. Although, I think the ice cream vendors are doing a great job.

Mel has lost ten pounds already and Fran has said that the extra weight appears to have affected his game and that adding weight doesn't work with some players. I think Meyers and Woodbury are going to give the hawks what they have been lacking on post position defense which should allow are guards to put more pressure on the perimeter.
