Kulick Says Iowa - scout.com

Jesus we would get so rolled. We would prob all appreciate the players more, or not, I dunno

All depends on the person, 90% of the people here would while they were in the hospital but then once they get out and the game is going on, they would be right back to bashing them.

I spent an hour and a half on the phone the other night with an old pal from grade school / jr high and HS. He walked on at Iowa. He said that some walkies are not that good and others play really well and practice and look good enough to start but they don't get their shot for a lot of reasons. In the final seconds of the RoseBowl snyder called down from the press box and said to put him in. Fry said to him, Coach Snyder said for you to go in.

He said in HS you go out and do an out pattern to the far sideline and the QB throws the ball(from the far hash) with an arc and you run under it like a bomb. In college you make your cut and the ball is there on a rope. Knows all those guys from that era personally (some are now coaches as you know) and everyone has an extremely high regard for Ferentz. Aknowledged that its very tough to recruit at Iowa.

Good stuff but most on here don't want to hear that.

Hoffa, that occured to me as he was talking. He has a very high regard for Snyder as well. At first Snyder seemed disstant and severe. Then realized that he was quite focused and said that he was an incredible football mind. Now is quite close to him. He went on to say that Ferentz' teams practice like the pros and the program is run First Class. No way KF is leaving to go anywhere - wants no part of the pro game (admitadly his opinion). Again high praise for KF and the way he runs his program.

I'm old.
I'm stubborn in my thinking.

What the heck is the difference between a walk-on, a preferred walk-on, and a gray shirt?

And, when does "recruiting a walk on " merit a thread?

My, how times have changed.

I guess it merits a thread because someone in the sports media decided to announce that this kid was walking on - I agree that it is hardly newsworthy.

My only fear with a guy like this is Kirk will start him in front of someone with more upside for spite. Like Adam Shada and Greg Castillo over their back ups.

Kirk doesn't do it out of spite. He does it because he likes players who play their assignments correctly. That is why Tom Donatell played over Nico Law. Nico was great at laying the big hit on someone but he got caught out of position too much. As the season went over Tom started to do it in games, that is when Nico got to play.

My issue isn't that KF will do it out of spite but will he learn to pull a guy sooner rather than later.
