KOK or new oc

I can not believe some people think a new OC would change anything. If KF wanted an wide open offense he would tell KOK to run one. If he did get a new OC he would have him run a conservative one.

Our philosophy is fine with me....it's the FREAKING playcalling that makes me bash my head against the wall. And I guarantee Kirk is not calling 70% of the plays....Why do we never run compliment plays? Or why does KOK try to get cute...WHY DON'T WE RUN ROUTES TO THE STICKS!? By compliment plays I mean we throw an out to Mcnutt 3 times...but never pump it and then have him make a double move and go deep.

These are not philosophical issues....KOK needs to go.

+1000. KF could have the same basic philosophy on offense, yet have a GOOD offensive coordinator who makes clever playcalls.

That said, it's a pipe dream to expect KF to fire his best buddy.

Exactly. This same philosophy has worked with success for us in the past as well as for Tressel at OSU, Beamer at VT and various other coaches. I don't think they utilize Davis' speed very much either.

As the others have pointed out we don't need to run a spread O. The pro set works just fine, our personnel groupings, routes, play calling, all need a major upgrade that's 90% OC.

The one thing about our offense that drives me up walls is the lack of adapting game plans. Perfect example: Nebraska game. The run game was working, not every down but coker was doing well early in the game. Then for some reason we go into a passing frenzy and almost abandon the run.

Another example: The Clown game. why run it so much when we could move the ball better with our passing game.

Kirk or KoK or whoever needs to seriously learn when to change something, change it, and make sure it works, if it doesn't. GUESS WHAT! CHANGE IT AGAIN!

^above is all play calling issues

You may want to read the analysis of Vandenberg's performance on this site. Pay special attention to the comments about why Iowa's passing game may have problems late in the season. I am concerned that Iowa has one of the best receiver coaches in the business...is he not allowed to tweak routes, passing game in general as the season progresses? Is that not part of his job? The analysis certainly "calls out" the Iowa coaching staff on this issue. This is, in my view, a much more important comment than picking and choosing criticism of the plays that are called in a single game.

I remember a great double move in the Indiana game going for a TD. They do it, part of it is execution and Vandy being able to find a second option.

The routes are there, just I think execution isn't great.
