Kirk's idiocy is the gift that keeps on giving

Yes, once again the coaches or head coach or all of them biffed up some clock management situations. but overall we lost this game in the first half being out schemed and out prepared. Wisky had 8-9 guys and maybe 10 at the LOS and we tried to run and contral the clock, and we didnt try to burn them and back up their safeties and lbkrs. At the least JR and the offense should have been well schooled on audibles to quick slants and deep bombs.

The players played their hearts out yesterday I felt like and I am disappointed when our staff continually (16 years now?) mismanages games. The players deserve to be put in a better position. We wasted timeouts in the first half, period. We wasted them in the 2nd half too. There was no reason to waste our first timeout in the 2nd half when Wisky was right by the goal line. We know Gordon is getting the ball why are we calling timeout? If we didn't have the right personnel out there shame on our staff then, the whole house knows Gordon most likely is getting the ball. We refused to expose the 1 on 1 coverage on Smith once again, not throwing him a single pass until the final 2 plays of the 1st half. The fan yelling at Davis at halftime had it right. Very frustrating we didn't adjust. Personally, I think Ruddock looks much more comfortable in the shotgun and with a quicker paced offense. I wish we would just stick with that. When he has played his best this year seems to be in those formations/situations. Loved having less Weisman out there too in the 2nd half. Why it takes us over a half to figure these things out is mind boggling. The potential is there with this team, we have some talent and it has been way underused this year!!!

I agree with your statement. I am not nor will I be at the point of trashing the coaches. These things have been going on for 16 years, why did you expect it to change? When the team was really good after the initial rebuild, people overlooked these things. Because the team got away with it because they were winning. Take the good with the bad.

Now, since we are close to being on the same page, when McEvoy was brought in didn't you think he is going to keep it? I sure did. I don't know what is said in meetings or what is emphasized in practice, but then a different style of QB is brought in I think radars should have went off that he may keep it and run.

You are assuming they would sit on it. I stated the facts in the scenario. If we don't get it? Do they sit on it? We don't know that. What we do know is that the coaching staff got caught in between what to do. That scenario plays out frequently in Iowa football. Go? Punt? Regardless what this staff does, a huge majority of the fan base wouldn't agree with the decision regardless the outcome.

Yes, I know they would have sat on it. Even if they would have ran a play, who cares? You play to win. It wasn't a huge blunder by KF, but he didn't use the clock and his TOs correctly once again.

Whoa, hold on. Who could possibly have anticipated that?

Next you'll tell me Wisconsin might fake a punt.
