Can’t argue with him. I’d take a Bob Sanders every year if possible. From article:

"Oh, man, that's a tough question, but I'd probably start with Bob Sanders. I've got, like, 26 years of guys mad at me now, outside of Bob," Ferentz said.

He was a culture changer. Not single handedly, but when he knocked Wisconsin's Chris Chambers out of a game in 2000, it was a turning point.

Iowa would lose that day and finish the season 3-9 but Sanders had announced that times were changing, that Iowa would be arriving soon.

Bob Sanders couldn’t play now. With rule changes, you can’t blow people up anymore. I was at the 2000 Northwestern game and BS destroyed a NW receiver on the sideline, and everyone in Kinnick went silent. We didn’t know if that receiver was dead or not. Am I guilty of a little bit of hyperbole? Yes, but not much. He f*cked that dude up.

That 5’7 ball of dynamite is why you have your son play other sports.

I don't want to say Cooper DeJean was the sole reason Iowa won 10 games in 2023, the whole defense and special teams were elite after all, but it seemed like every win was decided by 3 points and DeJean was the key difference in most of them, until he got hurt, anyway.

That KF didn't mention a QB, even tho we are in desperate need of a better one, sums up his approach to the game.
