Kirk = Ryan Morningstar?

okay, you fans who also follow wrestling, follow me on this.
they are both technicians and are great at what they do.
but, they both play to the level of their competition and almost never take any chances. they almost play not to lose, even when they are clearly better than the competition. both have some great wins, for sure, but seem to lack that killer instinct to put lesser people away.
i love 'em both to death, but i'd really like to see some fire now and again.
is this a crazy comparison?

Not at all. I'm a big wrestling fan and this completely fits. You can also add Matt Fields, Eustice and Tsirtsis to this description.

Thanks. This is one of the most insightful posts I've seen tonight.

I remember a couple of occassions when Ryan really surprised me and just hit the mat attacking. It was brilliant. And in both cases he won the match going away. Not unlike the MSU game this year.

Yeah...a very relevant and accurate comparison.

Morningstar has more heart and has experienced being part of a championship team.

but that championship team consisted of some fairly ruthless guys - metcalf especially. all i'm noting is that tom brands, dan gable, and even hayden have that "killer mentality" and kirk, for whatever reason plays it cool and way too close to the vest for my liking. i'm not going to doubt kirk's heart or will to win, just a question maybe more regarding how he goes about that.
like ryan, we seem to play waiting for them to make a mistake that we can capitalize on, rather than going out and asserting our will on them (especially on the defensive side of the ball, but also on offense too).

It is a fair comparison. Personally, I would like a football coach with the mentality of Brands. Dominate! Nothing else is acceptable.
