Kirk Herbstreit

Herbstreit has been anti Iowa since Jon rattled his cage with the article about Iowa's SOS. He got under ol' Herbie's skin with that one.

He's not anti-Iowa, he's just not pro-Iowa. There's a difference. Iowa wins this week, then it's on to Nebraska. That's all that matters right now. There's only one thing worse than being talked about, it's not being talked about. para. Oscar Wilde. Enjoy the former, we've had our fill of the latter.

Herbstreit is just trolling at this point with those picks.

Am I the only one that feels like there should be some reward still for going undefeated? I don't think there is any scenario where an undefeated champion from a power 5 conference should be left out of the final 4 in favor of a one loss team. Especially if it's a "bad loss" like Texas. Even Bama's loss to Ole Miss is looking worse and worse. ND gets more of a pass from me because their only loss was to the number one team.

My CFP ranking as of right now would be:

1. Clemson
2. Iowa
3. tOSU
4. OSU
5. Notre Dame
6. Alabama

Because the bad losses have to count just as much as the good wins. Notre Dame's best win at this point is Navy, Pitt, or USC. Alabama's best win is LSU and they got handled by a so-so Arkansas.

"Right, Herbstreit, because a one loss Oklahoma team who lost TO FRICKIN TEXAS WHO WAS SHUT OUT BY IOWA STATE winning over an INFINITELY overrated Baylor team should shoot them up all the way up to #5. Makes perfect sense.

I'll emphasize this again: Oklahoma is a good team, possibly even a great team, but they lost to a team that got SHUT OUT BY IOWA STATE I don't care if it's Iowa, Alabama, or the Green Bay Packers, a loss like that should automatically disqualify a team."

This is the exact point I was making in the thread I started entitle "Oklahoma". I agreed 100%. Any team that loses to a team that got blanked by iowa state is grounds for automatic elimination from ever being considered for the playoffs. PERIOD!! That loss to Texas is about as bad as it gets......at least this year's texas team.
This ^^^^^^

Man, cant we just enjoy this? Win and we're in. Anything anyone else says just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter.

The Iowa bashers won't shut up until Iowa wins against Ohio State. It is really that simple. I'm not predicting that Iowa WILL defeat Ohio State, but they won't shut up until Iowa does it.
And if Iowa doesn't win BTC then they'll say they were right all along. If Iowa wins then they eill say sll that they were saying is thst Iowa did have a quality schedule. It is a win-win for them. If we could all live in their win-win world....Well. ..there wouldn't be football and they wouldn't have a job.See...no win-win for us.

Can kick rocks.

What happened to the man who used to be the one voice of balance in college football willing to champion the Hawkeyes against the storm of ESPN's talking heads? Did he sell his soul? Five years ago I feel like Herbstreit couldn't stop praising Ferentz and the Hawks when the pundits took shots at Iowa, now he's assumed that very role himself.

Added with his sarcastic "prediction" before Iowa played Indiana.

ADDED WITH HIS CURRENT MEANINGLESS CFP RANKINGS PREDICTION:
1) Clemson
2) Alabama
3) Ohio State
4) Oklahoma State
5) Oklahoma
6) ND

Right, Herbstreit, because a one loss Oklahoma team who lost TO FRICKIN TEXAS WHO WAS SHUT OUT BY IOWA STATE winning over an INFINITELY overrated Baylor team should shoot them up all the way up to #5. Makes perfect sense.

Herbstreit clearly has decided (or more likely been told) to take an anti-Iowa position this year, as Iowa being higher in the rankings can only help the reputation and perception of his precious Buckeyes that ran him out of town.

Ban this guy from Iowa City.

If his prediction is meaningless, why do you care so much? All that matters is winning the next 3 games.

Can we focus our energies on supporting our Hawks instead of getting bent on Herby. I personally think Kirk is a great guy and we still have work to do!

Why waste negative energy and not be enjoying the fact we are 10-0 ?? We are better fans than this!!! Go Hawks and kick Boiler butt!

The Committee won't let Oklahoma jump an unbeaten Power 5 team. Otherwise, at the beginning of every year the Committee will need to put out a list of teams that get a free loss that literally does not impact their ability to qualify.

If Iowa goes unbeaten and gets left out it will effectively render its regular season (and by extension the entire Big 10 season) meaningless. There would be literally nothing Iowa could have done earn its way into the CFP. It would be a de facto determination that Iowa was eliminated from the CFP before the season even began. It would blow up system entirely.
