Kirk Ferentz Says Noah Fant Naturally Gifted Like James Daniels

Morehouse called Fant a big beautiful athlete. Daniels was said to have abnormal athleticism for a lineman. Brandon Scherff and TJ Hockenson are hardworking guys with high motors.

I would argue Scherff and TJ are both high motor and athletic guys. TJ can run and jump too. He's no slouch in that department. Not to mention his hands being as good as they are. I saw that Kiper bumped him up to being the first TE off the board on his 1.0 mock deal last night. That shouldn't be a surprise. He's the best ALL AROUND TE available. Fant can do some big time things for sure and can potentially get better too. I don't think a team can go wrong taking him either. But if your nailing me down on which TE I'd take first... I'd take TJ.

I'm pretty sure that HawkFinn was being a little sarcastic. Just playing into the stereotype a little.

Anyone who was seen Scherff and TJ play know they're good athletes.

Hock and Fant are both great athletes and I think they'll both perform well at the next level.

I'm curious to know how the TE position performs, on average, in terms of NFL draft placement. Do first round picks turn out be great star players? Or do late rounders often emerge as the best? The TE position seems to be a mix. It's one of those positions where you immediately know when you see an incredible talent. But I think the athletic requirements that a modern TE contributes are also more achievable, or more "normal" than many other positions. This makes diamond-in-the-rough TE prospects more common. A 3rd - 7th round pick at TE could easily emerge as the best in the NFL and we've seen that in recent times. First round picks, like Greg Olson and Kyle Rudolph, can be great players and decade long franchise pieces. But they also might never be the best in the NFL.

The two all-pro tight ends this year, Travis Kelce and George Kittle, were third and fifth-round picks, respectively.

Both have a lot of savvy and grit. They certainly don't ooze athleticism. Sports, where speaking in code is still regularly employed.

They are really leaders, on and off the field. Like having a coach out there in the huddle.
