Hey, I don't defend ferentz very often, but I believe he meant 2 scores to win. so, i see the logic in kicking the fg. plus, if you don't get a first down or touchdown, the game is over. at least if you make the fg, you get the opportunity for the onside kick. Then, a touchdown wins.

I think it was the wrong thing to do but it was a close enough call that I didn't really care either way. It's just so hard for our offense to get that close to the end zone that I think going for it was a slightly better play.

no surprise there. here are just a few of the many other things he doesn't know...
-You can blitz corners, LBs, and safeties
-You can sub players out, situationally (so your LBs don't have to cover quick WRs on 3rd and 12)
-You can have more than 5 plays in your playbook
-You can run play-action pass
-You can run to the long side of the field instead of the short side
-You can pass on a down other than 3rd
-You can throw the ball more than 8 yrds down the field.
-You can throw the ball past the sticks
-You can spread the field (and actually take a slow TE or Fullback off the field)
-You don't have to wait 35 seconds to send in the offensive play

You kids and your music television

In his defense, he thinks he's in the NFL and they only changed that rule a couple decades or so ago.

Some of you are confusing the timing of this question. We were down 14-6, missed fg. Not referring to the end of game fg

I wonder if he thought the question was about the very end of the game where they made the field goal?
