Kirk and Barta

All of those that are calling for the head of Kirk and Davis need to realize where the top is.

Kirk is getting paid 4 million a year, and doing the EXACT job that Barta and Boosters require him to. He's getting us 7 win seasons, and to bowl games that pay. The seats are full. The high money parking lots are full.

Iowa doesn't appear to want to be a BCS contender, they are just happy settling. This is nothing new, this has been going on for 10+ years.

Why would Barta fire Kirk, when he's doing fantastic, and the job Barta wants him to do.

The problems are at the top my friends..

I have a feeling Saturday was the tipping point. I've never seen fallout like I did yesterday. Even the Kirk apologists changed their tune.

The seats are not full. They were for this game, but not for others. The stadium will be even more empty if this continues. I quit going 3 years ago and doubt I will even watch this mess on TV any more. I have better things to do with my time.

time to change. Starts at the top. new OC wasn't the fix, maybe a downhill move there as I haven't seen any improvement what so ever!!!

The only way things change is for attendance to drop. But for many fans, its not the football game. It the tailgating and reunions, fall weather that draw them. I am sick of bad offensive football. KF is the blame. Its going to be a long season.

KF has done some amazing things at Iowa, but right now, this isn't fun to watch. I'm trying not to be irrational.

Anybody that thinks that the goal is to win 7 games and go to mid-level bowls every year has lost their marbles. If we had the ability to compete for titles every year, what could possibly be gained by purposely settling for mediocre. Give me a break!

This is absolutely horrid to watch right now, and if you think that any Hawkeye fan, including those at the top are enjoying it... you're just nuts.

Being mediocre has been the staple of the Hawkeye program for years now..this is not new.

The only people enjoying this are cyclone fans. It gives them happiness at least for another week before they go back to losing again.

As for Iowa fans and the administration, no one is happy with this but neither are the players or coaching staff. I just don't believe this team can turn it around. No faith that kirk is willing to change his philosophy at all because this team, right now, can't play his brand of football and win against decent talent.

All will be well when UI plays the powers of the big 10 in the likes of Illinois, NW, Purdue, Indiana, Minney and Maryland. Kirk will get his wins and everyone will be tainted by those shallow victorys over these crap teams.

Unfortunately, if Barta and KF are doing the jobs they are suppose to do, those at the top are content as well. Nothing will happen until fans stop going to the games, stop renewing season tickets and voicing their displeasure to the university. That's the only way!

If we can't beat Iowa State, there are very few teams in the country we can beat. KF has to be willing to change immediately. I don't believe he is

All the staff shake up did was take the pressure off KF for a while. That was KF watching out for KF!

I don't think Kirk honestly brought in new guys to take the heat off himself. He did it because it needed to happen. He wanted "yes men" that were more motivated and he got them. But they aren't theven problem either, I agree it is Kirk's fault but to say his got new assistantsite to protect himself for a while is a ridiculous statement, he has the contract and Barta's support for that.

The issues rest at the top from recruiting to play calling and while he may NOT be calling the plays on game day he has his hands on what GD is going to do. In fairness to GD I do believe that some plays call for throwing the D ball down the field but Ruddock does not have the accuracy to do that. He is so fearful of getting a ball picked that he just won't let it rip. When he does throw down field he either under-throws the ball terribly or over shoots. Nothing is close. This is a problem if your starting QB can't make a deep throw. He can't throw a back shoulder ball either it looks terrible when he tries to do that.

Same as it ever was................

You may be right, but nothing really changed. Yeah we might see some spread sets on offense, but when it comes right down to it, they go conservative and run the ball just like years past. That is all on KF. He made it look like a staff shake up like he was going in a new direction, but nothing changed. That is my assessment anyway. IF my original comment is so ridiculous, then in your opinion, what has changed so drastically since the coaching shake up? I think most were excited because a change happened, but in the end, nothing has happened.
