Kinnick expansion?

I know it was sarcasm. I agree, its a horrible idea for an off campus stadium. But when you pay 90 million to get what Iowa got, there is only one way to go.

By all means, spending $90 million on something and then using it is far more wasteful than spending $90 million on something and NOT using it.

Ok apparently a few aren't getting it so I'll spell it out and leave no doubt. I would not build a stadium out on the Interstate if given the choice. Quite honestly I don't care.

I am simply mocking the University of Iowa for spending 1/3 of the cost of a brand new stadium (TCF) and getting very little.

What good would one-third of a stadium do for us?

I can hear Dolph now: "And that kick-off return by Jordan Cotton of 33 and 1/3 yards for a touchdown ties the Mediacom Stadium record held by 12 other players."

(I guess the upside would be that our two-yard horizontal aerial "attack" would look a bit more aggressive in 1/3 of a stadium.)

College football is all about history and pageantry, a couple of things that make game day in Iowa City special. I don't want anywhere else to watch the Hawkeyes seven times a year. I love Kinnick.

Kinnick stays! On campus, walk down pit, love it. I don't want no stadium out on 80, this ain't the Iowa speedway bubba!

We're maxed out except for a couple of wedges.

They did an engineering analysis when they expanded last time and determined the sub-street structure on the east side couldn't hold any more weight.

They are building (3) $300Million structures on the same ground accross the street. They just have to dig down to the bedrock which i believe is 60-65 feet down. .

They should just tear down the hospital and build a replica of Kinnick but bigger.
IMO

Have you ever been to Kinnick, and if so, do you weight 400 pounds? I can't think of any other reason somebody wouldn't think that place is awesome.

If we get good again, with the expansion of other stadiums around the B1G and the country as well as the long waiting list for season tickets would/could they ever consider expanding seating at Kinnick.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kinnick. The old-style feel and the up close atmosphere of the fans is something most teams' fanbases don't get to enjoy. It just feels like there's so much history and tradition every time you step inside of Kinnick. I'm just askin' cause I'm curious.

What history? Hillcrest Dormitory probably has more history than Kinnick.

There is a reason so many former BT players say Kinick is the toughest place to come into and play.

I've always thought they should tear down the north section and make it bigger and flatter like the south.

lame

Biggest moment I have been in Kinnick for was when Iowa beat Wisky in 2004 to wrap up a share of the B1G title. Took a trip to Pasadena right out of Barry's fat hands. Remember that 30-7 beatdown?

And had the B1G trophy presented right on the field.

My first trip to Kinnick was about 30 years ago. I weigh about 190, but would prefer to shed a little bit though. How much do you weigh? Actually I don't really care. Feel free to keep that to yourself.

Like I said in a prior post. I really don't care about Kinnick one way or the other. The bench seats and field turf are laughable but it doesn't keep me away. I like the team that plays there but as a stadium it doesn't impress. It did when I was a kid but when I started to go to other college and NFL stadiums it proved to be just another old stadium.

I do enjoy the "we just spent 90 million, moron, your attention span and knowledge is short" crew. Just because you spent money, doesn't mean you spent it well. But you fellas are like most, our opinions are different. So that makes you right and me wrong. Carry on.

Hopefully not. Ever since they re-did the South endzone the stadium hasn't been as loud because its easier for the noise to escape (although Kinnick vs. Wisconsin in '10 was as loud as I can remember).
