Kinnick concert

We are going to get tickets. I am okay with his music but my wife and daughter love him so I'll be getting tickets on the 5th. Hopefully not 100 degrees that day or it will feel like 130 degrees in there at 4pm in August. Was hoping for maybe Kid Rock and Hank Williams Jr. which would have been great but we will go for this and see how it goes inside Kinnick.

And it states alcohol will be served inside Kinnick and you don't even have to be sitting in box seats to get it. Looks like two performers to be announced yet.

Trying to figure out who it might be....Dallas Clark's video said "this is going to be epic" and also "Iowans love Iowans, and Iowans love a good time"....Only Iowa ties I can think of that remotely resemble "epic" is the guy from Weezer, Aerosmith (Steven Tyler's son in law is from Iowa), and of course Slipknot (or another band any of those guys are tied to). Probably missing some country musicians.

Dallas Clark is well known for his ties/friends to a Wisconsin cover band called Vic Ferrari, whom have played annually in Livermore, his hometown, and more than a few times in Fort Dodge area (probably elsewhere in state as well)...but he does have connections in music world...I'm liking the tease, but coming up short on bands that are Epic that could play Kinnick, with Iowa ties....of course it's wide open if you take away Iowa connections... They said more to follow at this week's game!

PS Westender....envious of your attending AC/DC at Wrigley, awesome show I heard!

Donz is fronting Def Leppard with the Union Jack tank top? Dream concert, IMHO!

I don't think it will necessarily be Iowa musicians. The concert is to benefit a charity that will help Iowans after a disaster, etc. So I think that is the "iowans love iowans" part comes in during Clark's video. Sounds like multiple musicians also. Will be interesting whether it is a country fest or some rock musicians.

They couldn't possibly be stupid enough to have a country music concert in Iowa Freaking City, could they?

Oh yes they could.

You don't bring in Blake Shelton to Kinnick Stadium. You bring in U2 or Bon Jovi or Green Day. Somebody who can rock that sh!t. Heck, why not Maroon 5? Those dudes will play weddings, they'd sure as hell play Kinnick.

The problem with country music is that 1) it sucks, and 2) it sucks even worse live.

I'm with Thunder, 100%, on this one.

Saw U2 in Carver back in '87 and THAT met the definition of "epic". This? ... um, no.

Not that I EVER would but I could get my boot-scootin', sh!t-k!ckin' fill of Name-brand country, 5 nights in a row, at the Great Mississippi Valley fair, for $50, total! Hell, I'd make the 2-hour roundy to Kinnick and deal with all the related hassles to see REO and Styx for the umpteenth time before I'd drop a dime on country. Cripes, you could pick a threesome of just about any 80's / 90's / 00's mainstream or alt rock bands and it would outdraw Shelton at a fraction of the promo costs.

What-ev's. "A" for effort and intent; "Z" for execution. Won't be attending.

I guess we'll see if it's a moneymaker by the number of people that attend. If it's a bomb do you think Dallas Clark should be banned from Kinnick?

If it bombs it will have more to do with the chosen entertainment than anything else. If it has to be country, at least get someone like Zac Brown that tends to appeal to more than just the country audience. Maybe he could drag Buffett along with him for some impromptu parrot-head fun.

I hope it goes well and know of several groups of friends that will be going...but have a hard time believing they will fill it anywhere close to the 56K capacity. I'm sure some people will go just 'cause it's in Kinnick, but...

Blake Shelton just played the Tree Town Festival this past summer in Forrest City, Iowa to 13-15k, with plenty of tix still available and a full slate of support acts in front of him...I was backstage for that, while im not a country "fan", nor Blake fan per se, the show was avg good, but certainly not "EPIC".
