Kingsbury fired: HMMM, OC talent/QB Guru??

I specifically asked for a list of p5 offensive coordinators that were former centers. I’m still waiting
Ah so it has to be former centers. I can totally see how that makes it so much different despite actually having played the position myself.

You really wanna dig yourself deeper into the hole you've dug?

Robert Anae, UVA
Bill Bedenbaugh, OU
Mike Debord, Indiana
Jim Bollman, MSU
Kevin Wilson, OSU
Joe Rudolph, Wisconsin
Mike Leach serves as his own OC, Wazzu

And this is just the guys I could find career info on. Some pretty potent offenses there.

In short, your argument sucks.

Centers call all the line blocking assignments and maybe help out with blitz calls along with the QB. They are like catchers in baseball and there have been many a catcher who has gone on to be MLB managers.

QBs would be the most likely to be OCs but not necessarily

That's what I'm saying, but according to him centers aren't qualified to be OCs

Argument doesn’t suck. In fact, you made the argument for me. You don't hand the keys to a brand new off coordinator, that played center, when you want a balanced offense. Leach was not a center. Wisconsin has a heavy running offense and has never been known for passing or balance with this guy. Osu and Oklahoma get phenomenal athletes including running qb’s and have unique offenses so hard to compare those. Virginia Indiana and mich st all underachieved this year. Mich st was dreadful throwing the ball and Indiana wasn’t nearly as good as they’ve been in the past

Brian, having been a center, doesn’t mean jack shit. Not having any play calling experience on the other hand does. I don’t care if he was a punter, I just wish he had the experience that any other Power 5 school would require.

I understand why Texass Tech fired their golden boy, but I doubt they'll find an improvement. They've been dormant ever since Leach bolted.

Who could be MORE qualified than a center? They understand the offense as intimately as the QB, and probably moreso, since they're more involved in the blocking schemes...and blocking is everything for an offense.

It would be awesome to get a guy like Kliff Kingsbury on staff from the Mike Leach coaching tree. Not happening, but Phil Parker DC and Kingsbury OC/QB sounds like it would be a pretty good combination.
