Kingsbury fired: HMMM, OC talent/QB Guru??

I am being a little facetious as I doubt KF would fire BF or want a wide open type like Kingsbury. But maybe KK would want to be a QB whisperer for a year or two if KOK is ready to retire.

But the point is there are options and it is that time of year when a lot of jobs open up and a lot of coaches are looking for work.

My only complaint with the offense is not throwing deep enough times to see if it works, to move the safeties back and throwing the 20 yarders over the middle to make the linebackers drop more and be a little on their heels. I think the hawks would run the ball much better without the constant 8 and 7 man fronts against them.

You “doubt” KF would fire BF???

;)

Kf isn’t interested in high powered offensive football. Seriously, how do you not understand that by now? There is a reason a former center is the coordinator and it isn’t to promote explosive plays. The goal of kf is to use the entire quarter to drive the ball.

Of all the things you could criticize BF, this is by far the dumbest.

Name another former center that is an offensive coordinator at a p5 school. Take your time

Aren't there also Power 5 coordinators and head coaches that didn't play college football even at a high level.

Not trying to stir the pot. I think that Iowa could open the offense a little more and play a little less balanced offensive scheme especially when you generally haven't been able to run the ball all year.

"What is an offensive line coach"

That's not why its a shitty argument but I'll play your stupid game and do you one better by including head coaches.

David Bailiff was a decent head coach at Rice for four years.

Steve Addazio at BC

Kevin Wilson, former Indiana HC and OSU Co-OC

Les Miles, formerly NC winning HC at LSU, and newly minted coach at Kansas

Rod Carey, HC at NIU

Norm Chow at Hawaii led some offensive juggernauts

As stated by others, David Cutcliffe of Duke and Mike Leach of WSU didn't even play college football, among countless others I'm sure.

Not to mention the role a center plays in an offense, identifying blitzers, setting the protection, among other things. If you think OL are big and dumb without mental responsibilities in an offense, you need to learn a whole lot more about football.

Kirk Ferentz's likely response:

"That's damn heresy...you go to far!"

I would like that hire BTW.

Ryan Gosling would be so bored in Iowa City.

In all seriousness, TTech will find somebody else from that Hal Mumme coaching tree and chuck it all over the field.

How about Bill Belichick who played line at little Wesleyan U in Conn.

These two posts are in the top ten stupidest goddamn things posted here.

Again, if you’re going to make an argument, do some homework first or people are going to make you eat shit.

You can try to sell stupid opinions all day long, but when you make “factual” claims that are in deeeeep left field, especially when you’re a smart ass about it, know one will take you serious.

There are TONS of successful coaches at the college and NFL levels who have played OL and also many who never even played past high school.

Your derp level is impressive.

I certainly know plenty about football. Lol. And yiu still haven’t answered the question. Head coaches come from many different backgrounds but coordinators typically have a more focused pedigree. I’m not aware of any centers that are o coordinator at p5 schools. A heavy majority would be former qb’s. And it is not entirely just opening up the passing game. For starters, I’d get a wideout from a non Dakota state that started out as a scholarship athlete

Never said there wasn’t. That’s a different issue

Well I can give you the information. It's up to you to be informed. Seems you've chosen not to.

Give me your list of coaches who were hired by and coached under Bellicheat, possibly the greatest NFL coach in history. Promoted. Left for Iowa opportunity. Bellicheck would sell family for rings.

I’ll take BF over Flingsberry any day. Kingsberry got above .500 once (& that was a 7 win season) while having Baker Mayfield and Pat Mahomes on campus. The guy is a looser.

I have ni idea what the hell you are talking about. It has nothing to do with the current conversation

You said no college offensive coordinators are ever former centers....so? This one was hired and promoted by one of the greatest NFL coaches in history. I guess that makes him an exception to the rule.....is the point.
