Kiah Stokes to UConn

I just watched the video feed on KCRG.

Her dad spoke first with grace, class, and humor.

I wish Kiah the best, but wish we could gotten her to stay home.

Yeah this sucks. Can't say I'm surprised though. Marcus Paige will be the next top Iowa basketball recruit to probably leave the state...

Yep. Probably going to go to Kansas. Can't blame them for leaving the state for teams that contend for national championships every year and are dynasties. Although, think Bluder had a better chance at Stokes than McCaffery has with Paige. Bluder's team is actually competitive and respected.

Both from Linn-Mar too.

Respect her decision and wish her well. I just don't understand the press conference and build up when they know the home team will be so disappointed. I suppose she deserves the press. What did Greg say. Just wondering why he spoke.

I know Kiah is entitled to go anywhere she wants, and U Conn. would be hard to turn down. But why have a press conference in front of mostly Iowa fans and commit to U Conn. This shows very little respect for Hawk fans. Barnes did the same thing to Clone fans.

Greg graciously complimented all parties including the five schools and coaches, saying that he wished he had five Kiah's. Then he grinned and said not if he had to feed them all.

Watching it, there needed to be someone to introduce her and set the stage. He did a great job.

I wish her the best, but I hope Bluder proves to her that she should have stayed home by out doing UConn...a stretch, maybe, but I think that the Lady Hawks will be very competitive with this class and the incoming class.

Why have a press conference if going elsewhere...she will get booed at the state tournament in volleyball...she could of saved herself the embrassment. I am sure she is a good kid...but come on Bluder has it rolling...and good class...and a legacy...what more does she want. To go to UCONN, that may have the worst campus in the country...and a team of girls that love girls...

Then you're saying Harrison Barnes shouldn't have had a press conference? She is the top player in the state, was recruited by the most honored programs in WBB, but since she's not going to Iowa, she doesn't get a presser. Give me a break. As for anyone who thinks it's cool to boo her, they need to grow up, that is nothing more than a lack of class.

I'll give Bluder credit, she is getting some top notch recruits, but how many national championships does she have, zero? Bluder has never taken a UI team past the 2nd round in the NCAA tourney. Meanwhile, Geno has seven national championships, and could get eight this year. As for legacy, she can create her own at UConn as many others have. As for the lesbian remark, that is uncalled for, and unfounded.

Kiah made her choice, she feels it is the best decision for her, rather than whining about it, congratulate her and wish her luck. What an exciting time in her life right now.

I don't know Kiah personally and I neither follow nor cheer for UCONN, so wishing her well would be disingenuous. I don't wish her ill either, but if UCONN never won another game it would be too soon.

Have a nice life in Connecticut, kid. Beat it.

I have no reason at all to wish a recruit from Iowa to do well somewhere else. Why would I cheer for someone who didn't like us enough to stick with us? It is a slap in the face. It isn't about growing up! I ain't getting much older. Why would I be happy about this? Why would anyone outside her family and UConn fans. I agree... don't have a press conference in front of fans of another team and say you are leaving. What is the point? Is it fun to have a press conference? Why do people think a person "deserves" a press conference to announce this? BOOO! There is nothing to be proud of here.
