KF "we just wanted to burn the time out"

First lets discuss the timeout instead of spike, and first I will say no guarantee kicks goes in but you have to at least have an opportunity for the kick, and frustrating part of the entire play was the post game news conference instead of just saying it was a mistake that was obvious he went with and I quote "we just wanted to burn the time out" and in a follow up question said that they had talked about it before and that was the plan only save 2 seconds. The only thing we could not do was call a time out that was the end of the game and if that was the plan we planned too fail and the is not something a top coaching staff should feel good about or it's fans either.
For a team that is suppose to be so well coached we were not prepared today and were out coached for sure. But next week is another big game for Iowa and we need too be ready for another tough high scoring game because our defense is not up too the task right now of shouting down a quality program right now.

No proof of it, but I really think KF was covering for the players, namely Ricky.

No proof watch the film no signal from field only other option is head coach for a timeout all the players were lined up ready for the spike KF does make mistakes and it is ok just don' give me that was the plan then we planned too fail.

I know it's intentional, but it's easier when you use punctuation. But to your point, if the players were lined up for the spike then why was Stanzi in the shotgun? That's not a spike formation.

Don't think he's covering for Ricky. Ricky was signalling spike the entire time until he saw something else coming from the sideline. That fact that this was not discussed and personally acknowledged by every play as to what the plan was during the preceding timeout is inexcusable - if this were medicine or law it would be called malpractice.

Another thing I have harped on in the past is why the frick we don't bring the O-line over to the sidelines on these critical timeouts. The most important play of the year and during a timeout 5 of our players are standing out their on the field getting no direction.

Bottom line: during the 2nd timeout, anything other than: "We are going to run the sneak and get right back to the line and spike it. Don't look over hear, just get on the line, same formation. Everyone understand? Rick? (get a confirmation he understands) Marvin? (get a confirmation from him he understands), Derrell? Adam? Alan? Okay, Rick make sure all of ourlineman understand before you break the huddle."

Anything other than some version of the above is below horrendous. There is no word to describe the last 12 seconds of the game last night. There is no guarantee Meyer makes the kick, but if my life was on the line and the doctor said we can do an emergency surgery that had a 35% chance of saving me, I would hope he wouldn't forget to plug in the ventilator thereby killing me before the surgery.

KF is covering for himself and the other coach's the team was lined up and ready and Ricky was trying too get a spike instead we call a time out.

Kirk isn't covering for anybody. The team was lined up for the spike and the ball got kicked and went to the right side of the line where Zusevics picked it up to hand it back to the ref. The ref was going to set the ball again and then wind the clock, but imo, Kirk panicked as he has done in the past in end of the game clock situations. Definitely not on Ricky, he was at the center ready for the spike.

Ricky was not in the shot gun he was just waiting for umpire to make ball ready for play and get a play from the sidelines.

Podalak said it was like half the team was ready to spike the ball and half the team was preparing to run a play/

Ricky was just standing looking at the sidelines with is hands on his chest, and the ball was never ready for play so we had a few more seconds the umpire was still standing over the ball.

Poor coaching at the end. Does KF not know the rules? The clock stops on a 1st down, all you had to do was line up and spike it. The ball got kicked away from the umpire, even better we get more time to line up to spike it so all we lose is 1 second! I do not understand that at all, I knew when we called that time-out it was over. You always save your time-outs.

I don't know what KOK tells his QB's but when I was in high school our coaches told us 1 thing. Under 30 seconds you throw to the sideline or past the 1st down marker. Don't go for anything underneath no matter what, you end up wasting time or a time-out.

well i hope KF studies his books because he has a coaching genius coming into kinnick next weekend. Dantonio will be ready to pull out all the tricks and unless KF starts to get a little more ballsy, we are gonna be in trouble!
