KF Travesty games

What games stick out in your mind in KFs tenure as particularly rear scratching?

I still cannot get out of my mind the colossal MN game collapses of 2010 and 2011. Those were some bad Goof teams we done got beat by.

The 2012 Central Michigan loss and the Ball State win this year. Even though we won, it was pathetic. Had the comeback provided a spark, maybe, but nada.

ISU, ISU, ISU , MAC teams.

It's easier to understand an upset loss to a conference team...but a losing record to that dumpster fire in Ames is a scar on KFz's record that will never go away.

The list in unfortunately long. Take your pick from numerous Iowa State losses, Western Michigan at home, Central Michigan at home. The losses to horrible Minnesota teams up there, etc, etc, etc..............................

The game that absolutely crushed my spirit was the 2010 Northwestern game. Been a Northwestern ticket holder bince 2011 because I was so angry after that one. Pretty much stopped going to IC other than once or twice a year after having previously gone to at least 4 or 5 games a year.

I can take losing at Arizona when we had a few boneheaded early plays and they had a NFL QB. I could take losing to Wisconsin because they were evenly matched with us (though the fake punt really angered me). But we were so much better than Northwestern in 2010 and it is important to remember that we lost at home to them in 2008 and 2009 as well, so that one was the straw that broke the camel's back. The wind that day was intense but we insisted on throwing deep into the wind and gave NU the wind in the fourth quarter. I knew it was over when the second half started.

Don't get me wrong, there have been plenty of doozies, like the 2005 Iowa State game where we had a pretty decent team (but with no d-line) and we got absolutely embarrassed. There was the 2007 Western Michigan game, but I felt good about 2008 when Greene came back. The Central Michigan game was awful, too. But none of those broke me the way that Northwestern game in 2010 did. Heck, I get that we're gonna lose games and I don't generally get too bent out of shape, but our best three year talent run ever managing to lose to Northwestern 3 straight times (2 in IC) really, really angered me.

The 2006 NW game was pretty bad, too. Iowa never looked like they had a chance in that one. Just totally dead.

Hard to single out one game when almost every game is coached and played the exact same way. The end results are pretty much always based on random luck.

The 2011 MN loss sticks out for me, which is strange because Iowa has had so many bad losses to bad teams. The next week Iowa beat a Mich team that went to the Sugar Bowl, which is a perfect example of how things even out.

Funny how nobody lists the 2014 Nebraska game, including me, which may be a sign everybody had given up by that point. But if Iowa would have won, Iowa would be playing in the Holiday bowl this year.

There have been so many travesty games under KF that I do not know where to begin.
2014-ISU Every team scored 30 plus points on them but Iowa. ISU's only power conf. win. I do believe every team but one had at least 17 points at halftime.
2012-ISU, Cent. Mich, Purdue,and Indiana
2011-Isu Iowa had 4th and less than a yard and kick a FG. ISU wins in OT with a TD. Total gutless. Minnesota- Iowa was there only home conf win. That Minny team was worse than this years ISU team.
2010- NW and Minny. KF couldn't out coach Minny's interim. Once again Minny's only home win.
2009-NW
2007-Lost to ISU after they had lost to UNI and Kent St.
2006-NW, Indiana, and Minnesota.
I am quitting there. Too depressing

2005 at jNW, 13 point lead with 2 minutes to go, hawks had 400+ yards to about 100

Hawks mismanaged end of first half with refs help along sideline to mess up a very sure TD drive.

Then the ultimate collapse of norm playing soft, giving up a TD in about 60 seconds, then screwing up the onside kick, then losing the lead, and then opening up the offense with 30 seconds to go (when they should have kept the offense opened up).

There were about 15 things that had to happen in the last 2+ mins of that game and they all went jNW's way. My son and I drove 6 hrs to that game and we both think that is one of the turning point games in KF's tenure because it happened a week after blowing a late lead against Mich at home.

Everyone knew KF couldnt put people away from that point forward.

Oh believe me I think there are a lot more of these games since mid to late 2005.

I have to say that this years loss to ISU and losing to Chizik's first ISU team are probably the two worst, Those were terrible ISU teams.

That was one of the most mis-managed games ever.

The lead blowing and gut wrenching losses began in 2001 against either Wisconsin or Michigan. Had a player everyone knew could play except the coach who thought a guy taking 15 credits at a major college couldn't learn a playbook. Why play for the future when you can lose games now?

Seems like most games coached by KF. I have to chew half an aspirin evey game for what happens, or in anticipation of what will happen..
