This is a pretty hilarious thread. Being an Iowa boy that has transplanted to Tennessee, I can tell you that I had many of the same prejudices that many of you voice in this thread when I first moved to the South.

It is a different culture, to be sure, but there is no more bigotry, ignorance, arrogance, or number of rednecks in the south than in the midwest. The big differences are 1) dialect and 2) the predominance of right wing Christian values min the south.

Football in the south is a huge deal. Take the Big 10 fan support of wrestling and BBall and add that to football and that is what it is like in the SEC year round. Really, for a college football fan it is a great place to be.

I would love for Iowa to schedule some home-and-home matchups with SEC schools. Prove it on the field. You guys would love Oxford, Athens, Knoxville...

One of the callers said he didn't understand why Ferentz stayed at a nothing school like Iowa...I thought it was funny considering the notion that I personally believe that Iowa would have beaten Alabama last year. People making uninformed statements like that really **** me off when it is put out on the radio like that. Especially when the host agrees with that sentiment. The guy was a good interviewer but that part really got me thinking how the average SEC fan really has an over-inflated ego. They don't understand that Iowa would be good in the SEC too. Not just because of Ferentz either...it's not like Iowa is a bad program...maybe the caller confused us with another team in the state?

A nothing school? I guess if you consider the Big Ten and top 15 in athletic revenues nothing.

Also, we don't cheat as a matter of course like the sewer that is the SEC. Dirtbags. I love beating teams from that conference (which we do with regularity.)

This is why Iowa should schedule SEC non-conference games. Let the matter be settled on the field instead of through ignorant regional chest puffing. Introduce the SEC to a nothing program. CFB fans in the south are so inundated with SEC football talk that they really don't know much about other conferences.

As an aside: F-baum is a UT grad and Alabama homer.
