Not sticking up for him (not calling for his head either), but why shouldn't he give Minnesota any credit. IMO they played a good 4th quarter, made the plays when the game was on the line and had the balls to go for an onside kick in crucial situation. Last I knew, our players didn't exactly role over and quit playing, so why can't he commend Minnesota?
Most coaches will address the media one way and their team differently. I'd be willing to bet that the tone in the locker room was completely different then the one he used to address the media. So IMO he can say whatever he needs to "sugarcoat" it or simply give the credit to Minnesota where it rightfully belonged, because not everything needs to find its way to the press. Some things are best done internally and should be between the coaches and the players.
