KF is Better than Campbell or Frost!

Man, I remember when he was top 3.

So much hope. So much anguish. So much despair.
Summer 2005:
OK4P - "Yo, HappyChef, I think we should go to every road game this year because this will be the year we finally break through after finishing like 8th for three straight years."
HC - "This is the year of the Hawk. My buddy will get us ISU tickets."

Few days before the game:
HC - "Hey, he only had one extra so you'll have to find your own."
OK4P - "No problem, that game's gonna be a blowout anyway and I want to save my goodwill with Ma for the trip to Columbus in a few weeks, so I'll sit that one out - we'll hit all the Big Ten road games."

Oh, Kirk. You sly dog. Thank you for getting blown out by ISU that year and saving me the embarrassment of going to Columbus. Yeah, he's still top 3 in my book.

29th best but making Top 10 $$$. Can we see the list for dumbest AD's and shrewdest agents?

But seriously, Harbaugh #5?? Lol.

I have always been a huge fan of Chris Petersen. Would have loved to have seen KF jump to the NFL (yeah right lol) and this guy come aboard.

Funny that Iowa State game I went to.

He's not in the top 10 $$$ and LOL at Chris Peterson coming to Iowa.

He’s not in the top ten salaries. There are three coaches in the B1G alone who make more than he does.

I can't put my finger on which I would call a lower point in Iowa football - that 2005 ISU game or the 2007 Western Michigan game. At least the good thing about the 2007 WMU game is that it prepared me for multiple future losses against MAC teams.

KF's salary this current contract year ending January 31 would have paid him $4,600,000. This includes his $650,000 annual longevity bonus. This assumes Junior won't be promoted to head coach before Jan. 31 nullifying this bonus. This figure would tie him with James Franklin for 12th highest salary. Some sites have KF's salary listed at $4,550,000. Not sure why the discrepancy but if accurate then he would be 13th.

But when you add bonuses, and you may argue if this is fair, KF will receive an additional $100,000 for the Yankee Doodle Bowl and $500,000 for the incredibly laughable low-bar standard 8-win season. He would then leap frog Gary Patterson, Kevin Sumlin (recently fired) and Guy Malzahn. Franklin does as well. KF also eclipses Florida State's recently hired Willie Taggart's $5,000,000 salary. The afore mentioned coaches salaries are slightly higher than KF's but their bonuses aren't as ridiculously lucrative. KF might also receive a $100,000 graduation rate bonus. So according to the numbers provided by KF's contract and USA Today (and my own math -eeks!), KF is the 10th highest compensated coach at approximately $5,200,000 this year.

Or approximately 26 places ahead of Paul Chryst.

And for the record, I no longer have the Chris Petersen fantasy hire. But I did back when Scott Pioli was itching to make KF the next great NFL coach.

I was ripped pretty good for suggesting Chris Petersen during '12. Then he went to UW.

Anyway, the article states: "While Iowa has somewhat of a rich football history, it certainly pales in comparison to fellow Big Ten programs Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Michigan." They left out PSU, incidentally.

And while you can argue WUs' "rich football history" what strikes me is that the perception on a national level is that Iowa really isn't that great of a program. I don't see the program improvement at this level during kirk's tenure. We do, however, see that in WUs' program.

Love the narrative of Iowa being a hotbed for OL players and down hill power running.

Maybe soon they'll wake up and notice the number of defensive backs under Phil Parker who have been drafted and had NFL careers. I'll bet that # is greater than O Linemen

Living in Omaha it is going to be SO painful if Frost is better than mediocre at Nebraska. F that fanbase. I hope he's just meh and they're all left trying to decide what is the minimum amount of time they can keep him and not look like complete psychos. (hint, its too late but they don't know that)

I was at the UNI game in 2009. I knew we had a special team for 2009. Made some promises to God that day as UNI lined up for the first kick. Made even bigger ones when they lined up for the second kick. We deserved that NDSU loss. We had it coming.
