Keys to Victory: Hawkeyes Looking to Rebound at Michigan St.

Somebody bring in Jess Settles to help our bigs learn how to use a pump fake. Or dare I say see if Mr. Davis is around? All our bigs in the 90s seemed to utilize it a lot if for no other reason then guys like Settles, Winters, Millard were often going against guys taller and longer then them. Sure would have been useful against MN..

Let's go to the source

I was wondering during the game if they even practice boxing out anymore. It's pretty clear they don't in Iowa City.

And coaching...

Teaching boxing out, helping out, post moves, end of game plays, under the basket plays...all underrated...

Yelling, throwing things, pouting, brooding...all over-rated

SImple fakes would have fouled the goofy front line out in the first half.....;)

Shouldn't be that difficult to attempt after having every shot slammed back into one's face.....

The Lads should respond well, although a victory might not be in the works, long 2 OT game at Williams or not.....

We came back from the double overtime loss in Lincoln with a strong game against Michigan, that game was at Carver.....

MSU doesn't scare me all that much. But they lost by 29 at Michigan in their last game. They've had extra time to prep and rest. They definitely have a home court advantage. And we just played a 50 minute game...also traveling for the 2nd straight game.

I hope we play well and I hope we win. But I suspect we will compete; give a good effort; and lose by about 15. The deck is stacked against us in this one. But I will forget everything I just said when the game starts and be fully invested and looking for the win.

Michigan St. like a lot of power 5 teams this year, I can't figure out who they are or where they are going. I am not expecting Iowa to win, but wouldn't be shocked if they pulled the upset.

I have some bad news for you. The Michigan game was before Nebraska. The game after was our really flat showing against Rutgers at home. Any other team in the conference and we would have lost, and that game was at home. Nebraska looked really bad their next game too and they won the game. Double OT games take a lot out of you.

F*ck man, we got this.....We're shooting 62% the whole game, and we will box out like nobody's business, and shoot 88% from the line....Jesus H Christ, who am I and what the hell have I done with NEIChawk? It's always fun to see Izzo and Fran in the same arena, who explodes 1st?

Thanks for the correction. I was thinking of the Michigan game after the Purdue fiasco at Layfette. They did play a very strong game winning in OT. Rebounded very well after the boilermaker game.....

I thought they played well against Rutgers after the double OT game at Lincoln. Very young team at the time.....

We shall see how they do at MSU. Going to be tough, Izzo has a long and vicious memory.....

Win out at home and exceed all preseason expectations, finishing 500 in the BIg. Most wondered if we would win a game in the league.....

The key to victory is to make Tom Izzo lose his own false teeth.
