Keys to Iowa win over Wisconsin Saturday night

Turnovers and transition. If Iowa can get Wisky out of their pace/style that will be huge. that was a big key in the 2 victories last year.

I also think coach has to go all Franny on them. He scares the hell out my kids when they watch... some of those faces he makes should take 5 to 10% off the opponents shooting average. Shucking a chair or two would be helpful as well.

He is truly psychotic. About the time the program starts declining down the road after he has his successes I predict people will reference this and the children as one of the reasons he has to go. Now.... Program is on the up so it's just great.

I think we have to press and use our depth advantage. I know Wisconsin beat Indiana last night and I was very surprised. However, last night didn't change my optimism going into Saturday's game. I think the Hawks will win. Iowa certainly could lose but I will be surprised if we do. I will also be forced to project Wisconsin to finish in the top 5 teams in the Big 10 and project Iowa at 7th or 8th.

White has to throw a shoe at Bo....... and get him out of the game..... :)

I was going to suggest duct-taping this guy's mouth shut but I actually like NEIChawk's key a whole lot better.

I have a bad feeling about this game. We will need to shoot a good % to win, something we don't do this year.

Bo Ryan is a freaking idiot. Fran has 3 X the BBall IQ.

I disagree. Bo recruits for the game he prefers to coach. Yeah, it's not a fun game to watch, but he gets results. Part of a coach's BBIQ is knowing which players you can realistically recruit. Bo does. You can call him an idiot for choosing to play the slow-down, drain the shot clock game because it's not a lot of fun to watch, but you can't argue with his results. I'd say Fran and Bo have very good BBIQs. They just excel in different areas.

It's very simple. Carver Hawkeye Arena is OUR HOME. We need to punch the Rodents from Wisconsin in the mouth within the first 5 minutes of the game and dictate the pace of the game. I'm sick and tired of hearing how the Rodents from Wisconsin will slow the pace down blah blah blah and control the game. How about if WE control the pace of the game!? Iowa will win going away. We grew up a bit with that blow-out win over the geeks from NW last Sunday. My sense is a couple of guys that were called out by FM last week got the message (White for one). You could see it in both attitude and body language, not to mention the quality of play, in Evanston.

To do that, we need to make early baskets in transition and do it often. If we allow Wisky to hang around, we will see the slow-down game. If they get ahead, each possession is crucial because they will drain the shot clock each possession essentially cutting down the total number of possessions.

If we keep our transition game going and keep ahead of the Bad-gers by an ever-increasing margin in the early going, they will have to shoot earlier in the shot clock just to create more possessions to give them a greater chance of coming back; this plays into our transition game.

Have to be careful with that as the number one game plan. Number one it is very hard to do. 2. It places your game plan in the hands of what the other team and refs do. 3. Your trying to get then in foul trouble and you lose sight of what you do wellas a team. Not a good plan IMO

Agreed. We need to be successful in our transition game and just keep running them. Of course, one reason they CAN play only 7 is because they slow the game down. Trotting down the floor on offense and then going into your sets is not as physically demanding as sprinting down trying to get transition baskets.

Hulls?

The real problem for Indy in the second half was not continuing to run their offense through Zeller.

Yeah, that's the kid's name. Looks kind of like that short kid from the movie Hoosiers, Ollie. They have the same type of skills too. And yes, instead of running their offense through Zeller, they let Ollie dribble around and take over. But as the color guy said, at some point Zeller needs to come out and demand the ball.

I predict that the Hawks come out focused, driven by emotion, ready to take Wisconsin down. Once again I think Iowa has talent that is at least equal to the Badgers, if not better. Sapp and Gesell need to harass Brust and Wisky's other guard and shut them down, and I think they will. Josh will need a big game and I'm confident he will. Iowa by 6.

#40 will be a huge factor. I also can't wait to watch the Street special on 8 tomorrow night before the game. Guarantee i'll be crying like a teenage girl who just got catfished
