Merry Christmas:

One of my gifts this year was a book about former Iowa and CFL great Kenny Ploen, called "Quiet Hero". The book starts from his childhood in Clinton, to playing for Evy, leading Winnipeg to 4 out of 6 Grey Cup titles in 11 years he played, and his life after football.

You can get it thru the Bomber team store. So far I'm up to his days at Iowa, and its been a great read.

Thanks. I'll definitely get that book. I watched Ploen play. He was one of Evy's best. And it didn't go down hill when Ploen graduated as he was followed by Randy Duncan. The year Ploen & Iowa won the 1957 Rose Bowl I was in the Air Force, stationed at a SAC base in England. On Saturday nights we'd call the Conning Tower at our base & get game scores. I don't know how, but they could get stateside radio & so could give us scores.

Ploen, Jeter and Jauch were a beautiful tandem to watch play. Those were Evy's glory days before he became AD and things went downhill for the Hawks.
