This is a kid we really need to get. Not all 3* kids are equal, and Green is a lot like Lattimore last year, being that we need to get him to sign in Feb.

Man among boys out there....dude gets after it....he would be a very nice get for Iowa...as well as Thomas, two high energy guys that fly to the ball

Oliver Martin on his official visit at Iowa this weekend as well. Hopefully the staff sells like crazy this weekend and we get 3 big commits!

So any news on Oliver's visit? I know he doesn't talk much but Steve W at 247 changed his prediction to who friggin knows so I hope that means he will end up a Hawk. AND SCREW ENO PCHAWK

You won't hear any news on Martin, he doesn't do interviews really, so anything you see is strictly a guess. I had always thought he was gonna be a Hawk, but really that is a guess as well as there just isn't any information out there about him at all. Usually stuff starts leaking out, but my bet is no info about him will leak and he will just announce it once he makes up his mind.

Some key individual visits along with big recruiting weekends with MI and NE and we're still looking for our next verbal. Been awhile since we've been rewarded with a verbal either on the visit or shortly thereafter. That's opportune closing time in most sales cycles. Approaching 4 months since our last commitment for this year's class.

We may end up getting some of these key targets but something doesn't seem to be jelling as it should in my opinion. 8-4, a strong finish, coming off a great year last year, etc. I understand the WR dilemma but can't even attract an add'l quality RB in short fashion?

We've had a lot of trouble recruiting RB which doesn't make sense but as Kirk says, recruiting doesn't follow logic.

I would rather have a kid like Oliver who doesn't say much, doesn't commit, takes all of his visits and then makes up his mind when he sure that the kids who are rock solid with the program one minute and then gone the next.

Yep. Wherever Oliver ends up I'll wish him the best because of the type of kid he seems like and the way he's handled the surge in his recruiting profile. Total class act. Wish some of these other egomaniacs like Eno would take a few lessons. Oliver and AJ Eppy are both classic Hawkeye type players. They just have that no nonsense maturity about them. I sure do hope he chooses the Hawkeyes though.

Pretty obvious Martin picks home and Iowa. He's close to his parents and his sister is a world class swimmer and doesn't Iowa have a word class swim facility now? I think family is a big deal to them and he stays home and becomes a Hawk. Vandenburg, Smith, falconer, Martin, Fant and I'm forgetting more gives Stanley some weapons and that line will be nasty next year!

That is kind of the book on Stanley as well, no? I think when you reach a critical mass of high-performing players with this type of mentality, special things will happen.

That said, it never hurts to sprinkle in the "special" talents who do not necessarily fit the same personality profile but have a more self-centric focus (as long as their numbers don't reach a critical mass).
