Ken O'Keefe Raves Over Nate Stanley's Leadership Skills

The original play call might have been an off tackle left run that would have been blown up by the blitzer. A run to the left side behind Hockenson would have made sense there, until you realize there is going to be a blitzer in your face the second you get the ball. The o-line wasn't exactly stellar in short yardage situations in games against teams with decent defenses.

Valid point. Regardless of the outcome of the play, I just hate seeing the ball thrown in that situation as 3 minutes is an eternity and PSU had all their TOs. I'd just rather see us get stuffed for a short loss or no gain and see the clock ticking rather than put it in the air. I've just seen way to many games where we get "punished" for scoring too early in that situation and allow a team to much time to orchestrate a game winning drive.

Even if we had scored, PSU was likely gonna get the ball with 2 minutes to go. Maybe they burn a TO or two. But the TO's don't matter as much in college with the clock stopping on first down. We all know what would have happened. 8 yard cushions, McSorley would hit 6 out of 7 passes and they'd have won it on a FG.

Everyone is fawning over Adrian Martinez from Nebraska this season. Huge #'s. Guy's a stat machine. Everyone is calling the kid a natural leader. He was 4-8.

Alright after watching this play again. I stand behind my original thought the day it happened. Regardless of the interception, why are we passing on first and goal with 3 minutes left. Just my opinion but we should have been running the ball and the clock.

agree 100%. Pound that damn thing for the first couple of plays.

Fant was doing exactly what he was supposed to be doing. Making sure the WR farthest from the QB, got the audible call. Not his fault that Stanley had to snap the ball because the play clock was running out. Which has been a huge, unaddressed problem with this coaching staff, since KF arrived. We can't seem to get a play called early enough in the play clock, to allow for the QB to read the allignment and make an audible with time left on the clock.

Yeah, re-reading my post, it definitely reads as if I was blaming Fant. That isn't fair, Fant was trying to communicate to the outside guy, and it wasn't his fault the snap was so rushed. But the fact remains, had he run his route, that is likely a TD.

His numbskull team was 4-8. I wish we could get that kind of production out of a true freshman QB. Better rating in his freshman season than in any of Stanley's three seasons. Don't hate on me too much though; I will forever dislike that dude for his taunting that wasn't called in the Iowa game.

Yeah makes it fun. I am sure their pregame garbage will be remembered next fall also.

I'm 41 and after my knee surgery I just don't have the hip strength to really drive the ball, so you'll need to look elsewhere.
I don't have to look far, even though I have a few years and surgeries on ya, I'm the damn best quarterback in the land from my recliner, especially on Monday morning.
