I am too lazy to read everyone's response, but my two cents:
It would stand to reason that a team with talent like Iowa could find success when they play over a quarter of football in a style that their opponent had probably not prepared for in this weeks game plan.
I think people are taking his quote and running with it as if he was some how saying that they were handcuffed before, when he was probably just saying the coaches brought them together and said something to the effect of "listen, we are going to have to open things up, throw the ball around and get it in the hands of our guys to make some plays."
For those that are advocating this style as a whole you should ask Pitt how well it worked in protecting a lead. Honestly, had Pitt taken a play out of the Ferentz/Okeefe playbook and gone away from their system Iowa would be 1-2 right now because Pitt would have sat on it and gave the ball to the leading rusher in the nation as the play clock hit 2 seconds every snap.
It worked for this game and I think we can all sleep better knowing we are capable and well coached for situations when it's needed. I personally am not sold on wholesale changes due to one quarter worth of success.
