Kazan decision

Looks like Diamond to Auburn so that makes 4 OL to AU this Class. One would think his choices would now be Michigan and the Hawks. Wait and see?

My point was I don't think Kozan cares AT ALL to where Diamond goes. Once diamond makes a decision, maybe. But he isn't sitting around saying "I'll let diamond go where he wants and then I'll just go to the other school". He is trying to figure out where is best for him, not anyone else.

Fact is a Michigan degree carries more weight than an Iowa degree if football doesn't pan out. If his parents are looking out for his education how do you fault them?

I really don't think there's that big of a difference in the eyes of most employers in an undergraduate degree from those two universities.

And maybe he is looking out for his NFL dreams, knowing we send a lot of OL to the League. Time for father to let the kid make his own decisions.

Maybe in Michigan or Ohio, but if the kid goes back to Colorado after college I don't think a degree from Michigan would carry that much more weight then one from Iowa.

you have proof that a Michigan or OSU degree carries more weight than Iowa, maybe in how to make money in getting tattoos from OSU

Really?? Look at where the U of M ranks in compared to Iowa as a university, it isn't close....lol. I'll link it if you'd like. And your attempted burn was so lame I hesitated to even respond to it.

A bachelors degree from either school isn't gonna make a big difference in the long run. Not to most employers. Fact.

OSU? OSU is a lesser university than Iowa in almost every respect. Michigan, academically stronger in most areas of undergraduate study.

This. Getting a graduate degree from Michigan is a HUGE step up from Iowa. But bachelors degrees, the difference isn't all that significant.

But I highly doubt that his parents are holding out based on academics. It's not like Iowa is on Boise State's level in academics here.

Not according to those who rank universities....lol

I love these arguments. "My school is better than your school." It completely, 100%, totally (I can be more redundant for some, if necessary) depends on your field of study.

There are graduate schools at the U of IA that have a better national reputation than comperable schools at OSU, Mich, Illinois, etc... And vice versa.

Making a blanket statement like "School 1 is better than School 2" is probably both right and wrong.

Now if someone wants to try to average the ranking of all of an institution's grad schools and then claim it matters in some way I would guess (without taking the time to look it up) that NW, Mich and Illinois probably lead the way in the B10.

But setting aside all of our biases for a second, the fact is that a graduate degree from any B10 institution in any field is a significant asset that will go a long way in serving the owner. And taken as a whole, I doubt that there is a vast difference between the aggregate accomplishments of students from any school vs. any other school.

And after working for a Fortune 100 company for the past 15 years nobody truly gives a sh^t where you got your degree ... Very true. What matters is your experience and if you do actually have a degree. Recruiters and managers don't care if your degree was from Michigan or Drake, etc. Note: In some fields and within certain companies, yes, where you got your degree can play a big factor ... But for the majority of jobs in America nobody cares ...

Define successful career. Now define successful career from an 18 year old's perspective.

Also, FWIW, I would bet that in screening job candidates, it depends on acquired degree, field of expertise, company, industry, position, relevant experience, outside involvement, attitude, etc, if someone from U of M would be hired over someone from Iowa, or visa-versa; versus being based solely on their choice of school. I'm guessing it happens in hiring a "homer" occasionally, but that's completely different, and probably everything else equal.

Most recruits are looking for a good fit for their personal life in the short term, and as it pertains to football and without much regard for their future other than maybe development and placement in nfl, and availability of desired choice of study (of which most are unsure or undecided).

that is the thing it will depend upon which field you majored in. Engineering; a degree from Purdue, T A&M, PSU, USC and even ISU carry more weight than most schools and yes even more so than the mighty OSU or Michigan;
if it a degree that you want to get employers attention go to Harvard or Yale and any Ivy league school,
Stanford, Vanderbilt or Northwetern also are very reputable, if a education mattered the last place kids would be OSU or Michigan,
get off your high horse of OSU is Gods gift to the world in everything

This. Of course it matters for certain "professional" type positions...possibly even positions at the executive level, but for the vast majority of available positions, no one cares where your degree comes from.

So is this rumor that his parents don't want him to go to Iowa and won't sign his LOI?

If so that is pretty freaking low and his parents should be ashamed of themselves.

Unfortunately, this was true for another recruit that wanted to come here. Remember the EJ tweet of a new family member that was never answered? It happens and it's sad...
