Katenda favors Wake Forest, will visit Iowa

Really? Wake was worse than us (although they beat us) and their were rumblings their coach was going to be let go after his first season. Jeff Blzedik (however you spell his name) wasn't a popular choice and I know their was serious debate about firing him. ACC is a good conference if you play for UNC or Duke for coverage but that is about it.

Although Wake was pretty horrible this year, they did play better towards the end of the season. There are very young and have a a nice group of young players. Im guessing Katenda sees and oppurtunity for early playing time at Wake. Just my thoughts...

like he wouldn't have that here? lets hope fran can talk some sense into him if that's the case!

Yes. I agree he would have a chance at early pt at Iowa, but wasn't there some talk of him not being that good on the boards awhile back. Someone was saying that they weren't very impressed with Katenda and Olaseni was the real prize of that team. I know I seen it on here somewhere...Maybe it will be a blessing in disguise. My personal hope is we get Stokes. That kid is full of confidence and is comparable to a young Kemba Walker.

Firing him? He just finished his 1st season there

Wake's got a pretty good tradition in basketball, and has been good more recently than Iowa has. Plus it's a pretty good school, too. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to go there.

This is surprising, I wasn't expecting him to visit and I thought he was a Notre Dame lean. Hopefully Olaseni has positive things to tell him

Wake is a nice program, but their coach is like watching paint dry. He stunk it up at Colorado and was lucky to fall into the Wake job. Hard to believe, all things being equal, McCaffrey can't outperform Bzedelik. ND will probably land him, as they have PT to offer and of the 3, have been more successful of late. Maybe we get a bounce by having kids here when it is not 20 degrees outside.

Nice that he is visiting I guess.

Could be academics…he has stated in the past he wants to get into computer science. Could be the location/weather…pretty nice year round in Winston-Salem.

We'll see what he thinks after his visit to Iowa.

Say what you want about that coach, but he kept the prior coach's prized recruits from last year's class, many of which had not signed LOI's when he was hired, has three Rivals three stars for this year and has a good jump on 2012. We could only wish for that type of recruiting success.

You sure that Dino did have those frosh signed when Bedzelik walked in the door?
I looked at the RSCI list as of Sept 2009 and they had 4 top 100 kids committed to Wake at that point. Did they not sign that november?

TOS is saying Katenda will visit Iowa and then Notre Dame and that will be it for his visits, per Katenda's coach. Sounds like he is down to a final 3.

I don't need to say anything. He was moderately successful at Air Force playing slow down ball, went to Colorado and tanked. With him out, Colorado made it to the final 4 of the NIT with essentially the same players. With that being said, they barely beat us at home when we were really, really struggling. With a healthy Payne, a normal Gatens and Cartwright-Basabe at their mid season form AND anything less than unconscious shooting (36 points) from their guard and we beat them handily.

Not sure Wake is the high tide raising all boats. Nothing against Wake, just seems odd, but as others have said, your first visit will typically be # 1.

Actually, I just looked this up and found articles that had to correct themselves because Rivals was not accurate. They did sign, but Rivals did not update.

However, the did not decommit. Which is still saying something.

+1. I could not agree more. We had a new coach which means a entirely new offense and defense to learn. These kids have gone through the big ten now and know they can compete with the best the Big Ten has to offer. It took awhile but the Purdue game was a pivotal moment for this program. Please tell me that we will get a second shot at some of the same nonconference teams we played early in the season. This is a different team now and one that is greatly improved..........game on baby!
