Kale Abrahamson

Valid points. I'm reluctant to click on the other guys mainly because we probably do not have a chance of signing them right now. In time I hope that changes. I have confidence that Fran will set things right.

He reminded me of Oglesby also. Korver too. Hopefully he will develop into Kyle Korver.

"Abrahamson reminds me of the Korver boys from Pella. Big for his position, can be a defensive liability against ultra athletic opponents, goofy haircut, and a deadly spot up shooter. Now the question is does he become Kyle (who easily could of played in the Big Ten) or Klayton/Kaleb who were mid-major level players. "

You nailed it with the Korver reference, HCH, right down to the goofy haircut. Good one.

FWIW, I dug up statistics on Abrahamson, and he shot 39.5% from 3 and 78% from the line last year. Those are fine, but describing him as "deadeye" and comparing him to Korver doesn't quite add up. Korver averaged 45%/89% for his career at Creighton. I'd love to see his numbers at Pella if anyone has them.

My rule of thumb is that if an Iowa prep is rated in the top 150,we should recruit them. Of course there can be exceptions. But we do not have a roster full of top 150 players,in fact,we will only have two...Gatens and Oglesby,so I think we cannot turn our nose up at any local kids who objective observers deem good enough to make that list of top 150.

its happened before. i remember jimmy binnie sneaking into the rivals 150 and we didnt offer him.

Fran & co. are paid a stupendous amount of money to evaluate players and figure out who fits in with what they are trying to do. Leaving those decisions to an arbitrary ranking by a service like Rivals would not only be tremendously lazy, it would be an incredibly reckless way to run a program.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am just glad to see that "goofy haircut" is beginning to show up on scouting reports. ;)

So how do you feel about offering Kale Abrahamson a scholarship.
