bob62 - If I thought a blow out would bring us a new coach and way overdue change, I'd go to church every day and pray for it.
They could win 100-0 and KF would still be the coach next year. It's nonsense to think otherwise.
And if the hawks came out and beat Tennessee..... ?
Would people be frustrated, still fuming...?
What if they beat Tennessee handily? Then what? Some would rush to post, how they aren't fooled and how they know best that Ferentz should be gone.
Haven't you noticed how tan God always is? You think he's gonna want to hang out in Iowa year round....no way!

NC, I think it has been established that a bowl win isn't going to erase the 5 losses of this season so, from that perspective, the bowl game is not meaningful. kfootball needs to reinvent Iowa football. Trotting out the same thing next season really won't cut it. So, kfootball needs to do some deep thinking and analysis of what is and is not working within his program. The pro-style offense needs to go. I'd like to see some form of the spread or pistol offense. You can run power from those offenses. But, we all know kfootball won't change a thing, except make BF the OC if GD does retire. So, scroll back up to my first sentence.
Look, I liker you. As a known dissenter, you are at least respectful. But if you think we can completely re-tool with a spread or pistol, it will take WHOLESALE change. Not just coach, AD or staff. It will take going to people who have donated tons of money over tons of time to put a product on the field they have never seen from Iowa. And, from what they have seen from other schools, they may regard it as gimmicky, stupid or flat-out distasteful.
I'm not saying it's not possible, or not warranted (although, to disclaim, I prefer more traditional football).
Now...on top of all that...everything recruiting-related also needs to change. And from the perspective of what is seen as "needed" for those types of offenses, recruiting for it may not be as easy in Iowa City as elsewhere without going to ANOTHER mindset, aka, "Inducement Recruiting".
Not saying you, personally, feel that, but I think that's what it may require. If so, count me out.
Boy, that first sentence looks creepy. But editing isn't as as simply quoting the post and pointing it out, so...
