Just read this Roy Marble article, getting dusty in my office

I've had doctors tell me on 3 different occasions that I wouldn't make it through the night and if I had anything I wanted to tell my family I should tell them. 15 years ago my doctor wanted to amputate my leg. 8 years ago they wanted to amputate both feet. Today I walk as well as I have in the last 20 years and I am truly blessed. The point is doctors do not determine whether a person will live or not. They think of themselves as gods but they are not God. Miracles happen every day if you open your eyes to see them. Stay positive Roy, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Wow. It sounds like he is at peace with it and has terrific family & friends support. He and that team were such a joy to watch.

And may you continue to do so, as well. Keep on fighting...Hawkeyes never quit! :)

Ouch, didn't realize it was this serious. :(

Times like these give me chance to offer up a shout out to The Flying Spaghetti Monster - the loving embrace of His noodly appendage has kept me cancer free for 34 years AND he has seen fit to keep my lower extremities in good enough condition to propel me on a 5+ mile lunchtime run. Offer yourself up in sincere submission and I guarantee He will do the same for you!*

Very, very well said. And kudos to you for keeping the faith.

Very sobering article indeed. I think it is safe to say we have all been touched in one way or another by this horrible disease. Heart goes out to Roy and his family. One of the Hawkeye greats ... Stay strong Roy ...

How great would it be if Carlo had enough talent to be considered for a Hawkeye scholarship... if he's even close it feels to me like the kind of thing Fran would do to complete a great legacy and tradition.

Play on, Roy... play on.
