after seeing how fans reacted to the Tom Davis years, where avg 20 wins per season 9-0 in 1st round games in the Dance was not good enough, this is what makes me say this, fan expectation get way out of Wack; then we have how fans were acting all season after the losses during the FB season
just hoping fans temper their feelings

Dont expect it no, but it would be nice. I would not put it in the realms of impossible.
sorry if this offends some of you but Iam 67 years old and have seen just how fast fans can turn on a team and its coaches,
Lute and Ralph both ran from Iowa as fast as they could, Tom Davis was run out of btown by people who thought they could find a coach that could do better,
even the FB team after 4 Top 10's since 2002 with 2 11 win seasons and 2 10 win seasons, fans are ready to run the coaches out of town. because they want better results, even looking at who they are losing too does not count. all they look at is a couple of losses that are to inferior teams like CMU and WMU, fans say every loss is unacceptable, like PSU, Oklahoma, MSU, Wisconsin and even last years loss to Nebraska was unacceptable.
me I am hoping for a 10-3 OOC and a 10-8 conference record and a shot at the Dance. will I care if they don't.. NO,, BECAUSE ITS JUST A game

Sorry Red, agree with lots you say (I'm 80 & my recollections are similar to yours) I don't remember Lute being run out of town.but I didn't think Davis deserved to be. Think lute hated our weather more than anything else. I have a unique reason for being very disappointed when we lose. I LOVE READING (LOTS OF SPORTS) and sports on TV. I usually do both at the same time. I dvr every Hawk game on TV & run them over and over the next week while reading. But I never re-run a game we lost. So that's where I'm coming from on that.

never said anything about getting excited, i said "TEMPER THE MOOD" AFTER A LOSS
as for Lute he "RAN" as fast as he could
and I don't doubt Fran " I JUST KNOW HOW TOUGH THE BT IS"
if avg'ing 20 wins and 9-0 in the dance is not enough for fans
just how long will you be satisfied if he does not avg more than 20 wins per season
