Just don't understand that last possession..

So why do we hand off 3 straight times to get a first down, killing most of the time left on the clock, and THEN decide we are going to start passing and try to score? I just don't get it.

I see the responses coming - I'm an idiot who doesn't know anything about football, and maybe I think I could do better as coach, and I should just step away from the ledge.

Fair enough.

But if you are going to try to score, why burn the clock before trying to pick up bigger chunks of yardage through the air when it's too late to score?

It makes no sense to me. Either sit on it and get into the locker room, or try to move the ball when you have 1st and 10 with 1:30 to go.

Your asking questions hawkeye fans have been asking since 2001......it doesn't do anything! Just know your role - that you don't make $4,000,000/yr and you don't have gut feelings that decide games!!!

No, you're not an idiot. You're spot on, and you're 1000% correct.

You see a possession like that and see why Iowa loses close games more often than not.

That was classic KF. We've seen it a hundred times. Run the clock out and bank two time outs while making a conservative attempt to move the ball hoping something breaks open. Looks like Mr. Conservative has resurfaced. I don't see Iowa winning this game if they are going to coach to not lose....again.

Additionally, it makes no sense to sit on the ball when a 'smart' coach on the opposing sideline cand just start using timeouts to insure getting the ball back. Even the announcers were commenting on that.

BTW...what happened to the no huddle offense? They seem to play better at up tempo.

Agreed - I think we've looked very good in the no huddle when we've used it. It just seems this staff crawls into its shell whenever we go on the road.
