Junior Seau

Yes it is. I believe depression is a main symptom of menopause as well maybe that's what Seau was suffering from.

Seriously, there are so many things that could cause depression it's foolish to immediately jump to conclusions. It's certainly a reasonable hypothesis but there are other reasons that are just as likely IMO.

Who's jumping to conclusions?

That seemed to be what you were implying with that post.

For the record, I think it's equally as foolish to say it wasn't caused by severe head trauma.

just responding to him saying "it probably has nothing to do with it". Like I said earlier though, it's hard not to hypothesize that it could have had some affect.

That would be my hypothesis as well if he hadn't just had football basically taken away from him. He wouldn't be the first football player to go through sever depression immediately following his playing career. We'll probably never really know the cause of his depression.

IMO it's not that it would cause the depression but exacerbate it and make it more difficult for him to deal with.

From a yahoo article, pretty interesting.

NFL legend Junior Seau found dead at his California home | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports Canada

If Seau committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest, it is similar to the way former Chicago Bears great Dave Duerson ended his life. Duerson shot himself in the chest on February 17, 2011 -- the method used so that his brain could be examined for symptoms of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a trauma-induced disease common to NFL players and others who have received repeated blows to the head.

I heard he had some serious financial problems so it might not be concussion-related. It might not be financially related as well-we just don't know at this point so we should just wait to see if more info comes out on it. In any event it's a sad day for the NFL.

All I am saying is that if blows to the head make people commit suicide, boxers would be offing themselves left and right.

There's, like, 5 boxers people can name so if they are killing themselves, no one knows who they are so no one cares thus it doesn't get reported.
