Joshua Lewis Chooses Hawkeyes

I'd love to know more about why this kid chose Iowa. Like is he up to date on Iowa's current situation? He clearly had other options. There's schools that woulda fired Fran in season after just last game with where we are. Between what many fans and local media all seem to think the writing is on the wall after this yr this is it for Fran. His buyout is doable and once I'd heard that it could be paid being stretched out over 3 yrs then for sure it's a doable thing. Fran won't just walk away cause there's no reason for him to just leave that 4 plus million on the table I think it is after April 1st I'd seen is what it'd be.

So Lewis reopened his recruitment due his coach dying and now he's committed to a school who's coach is 1 foot out the door to being fired. It sounds like he's a hell of a player and anyone would be fired up to get him. But he's not like Danny Manning or Christian Laettner good to the point where Beth won't keep Fran on just so this kid doesn't inevitably reopen his recruitment again. Surely she isn't that short sighted. This program needs blown up. Not a Fran 3.0 type of situation. Way too much fan apathy for that.

Perhaps he likes the run and gun free style offense the Hawks run

Still looking for a brute inside to rebound and block shots, an intimidator if you will

Really the only thing wrong with this year is the long stretches of no effort at all. When the effort is there, this looks like a top 25 team. If Fran can find a way to get consistent effort, this season could easily turn around. If we make the tournament this year, with the recruits we have coming in, it would be a tough sell to get rid of Fran based on the on floor product. Now getting rid of Fran based on fan attendance is a whole nother story.

IMO, Iowa needs to get out of the 6'5'' - 6'8" guys and bring in a couple of actual bigs. This guy isn't a center.

They do have a 6'10 center coming in next year. Don't know a lot about him tho. Freeman needs to learn to play hard without fouling. If he can do that, he's plenty good for a starting center for the next two years. Unfortunately that's a big if right now.

Yeah, it's like the totality of it all. Fran is a good coach. Does he do anything as far as promoting the Iowa brand? Not really. He's not a fund raiser, he's not a cheerleader. There's nothing engaging from a fan stand point with Fran. Which I don't give a shit about, I am just talking in regards to bringing people back to Carver. I could see a scenario in which Beth is very sympathetic towards Fran's current plight at Iowa. She likely knows how he has one armed tied behind his back. Hell, he couldn't keep his own kid or it's best player in IC last year. I know people were out on Patrick, but IMO - Pat and Tony on this team would look pretty good right now.

They screwed up their opportunity with this six game stretch here. At best they are a NIT team. The last 8 games, if they go 3-5 I would take it, and that wouldn’t be nearly enough to make the tournament.

I dunno, man. The 2 things you would need from Pmac would be rebounding and defense. I’m not throwing shade at Pmac, but it isn’t much of an upgrade, in those 2 areas, if he is on the roster.

Perk is/was awesome at coming down hill and getting buckets in transition. He wasn’t much of a defender and when things aren’t going well he likes to pout on the bench. Given this current stretch, the last thing you would need is one your team leaders pouting on the bench.

Ok Fran now go and get a Tyler Smith type of recruit and we will really be talking.

We have had many good wing type of players, now show me the money……….. I mean a top ten point guard.
