Josh Turner Transferring

What? 6 posts in and nobody's bitching about this scholarship now being used on some white kid from northeast Iowa that should be playing DIII and sounds more like an actor in a 1950's western movie than a D1 MLB? You guys are slacking.

I can help but think about Riley Moss starting, a true freshman walk on, what does that say for the rest of the CB roster.

I would think a lock down cornerback may be one of the most difficult positions to recruit in college football. They are not a dime a dozen and you can't really manufacture/develop a players skills or body at that position such as you can at some other positions such as LB, TE or line play, etc.. Usually, either a corner has it or they don't. You can tweak their game a little such as footwork, switching hips, pursuit, etc.., but, they really just have to have that "it" factor for the really good players.

We were so spoiled by CBs recently. We’ll never see the likes of Hyde, King and Jackson again.

It's too bad he didn't stick around. He got is feet wet a little so I think Parker must like him and see potential in him. Just because he wasn't ready now don't mean in 1 or 2 yrs he's not. He may have a higher ceiling than Moss (most of us with little more than the eye test to go on would guess as much) But if as a FL kid when the weather is as nasty as it is up there decides that 2 yrs of that and sitting on the bench are enough there's not much one can do to change his mind. He sure didn't wait long after the season to do it...

This is why Jackson is one of my favorite all time Hawkeyes. He played a little bit as a FR in 2015, then got passed on the depth chart in 2016 by a younger player, but stuck it out and passed him back in 2017 and had an All American season.

I don’t see why this is a big deal. I think Iowa is set at CB for a couple years. Hankins and Brents were lock down and ojemudia and Moss are decent.

If there's anything to be said about Parker is he don't seem to play favorites. He plays who he thinks can play now. Not every player starts at the same place or develops at the same rate. That's pretty obvious. Jackson is a great example of that. He could have left thinking he was good enough after that year you mentioned easily. Dude developed and balled out. Now he's cashing checks. Maybe Turner finds a good fit closer to home and still ends up where he wants to be in 4-5 yrs. No way of knowing till it happens

Not what you think it says. That's like saying Rugamba, Embry, Maurice Fleming and Snyder weren't very good.
