Josh Jackson Green Bay question

So I've watched a total of two nfl games this year, not because i'm avoiding it, just because of schedules and things on Sundays so far this year. I've watched zero Green Bay games. Can anybody tell me how Josh Jackson is doing for GB? Is he playing, is he hurt? I could go look up stats but they don't usually tell you the whole picture. Just wondered if there's anybody who watches GB a lot who can kinda summarize his year. If its something stupid like he's been out all year and is on IR i'm sorry in advance, and i'm dumb.

JJ has done okay. He's been a little inconsistent, which you would kind of expect. His biggest issue has been an inordinate number of personal foul penalties. He's had at least two, maybe three, facemask penalties, and, that has put him in the doghouse somewhat.

He's also got lost in the shuffle to an extent. Their first round pick, Alexander, has been terrific, and, the Packers drafted Kevin King last year at corner. He starts but is quickly developing a reputation for being injury prone.

In the end, I wouldn't be shocked to see Jackson groomed at FS. The Packers traded Clinton-Dix, and moved Tramon Williams over, but he's in his mid 30's so obviously that's a temporary move. Plus, it probably suits Josh's skill set better.

Jackson is going to have a new HC and most likely new DC next year. So basically like an early reset button on his career. Which could be a very good thing for him. GB's front office and coaching staff were among the worst in the league. Now they have a new GM, OC, & DC and things have gotten worse. I think he'll be a good player for them but he's probably going to have to survive the huge transition the franchise is likely to go through in the off-season. .

They have actually improved on defense. As a Packer fan, I REALLY hope McCarthy gets the ax after this season. However, it would be a mistake for the new coach to get rid of Pettine as DC.

Seriously. Pettine has been an immediate improvement which shows just how bad Capers was. Don't destroy any momentum he's built. Get McCarthy the F out though, I'm tired of wasted the most-talented QB to play the game on wild-card seasons.

You're absolutely right, they have improved on D. When I said things have gotten worse I probably should have been more specific. The team overall looks worse. Probably due to the offense not being able to carry the load like they always have.

From an outsider's perspective it looks to me that their overall roster talent is low. But they seem to have had a decent draft in 2018. As a fan of the team would you agree? Or is their lack of success due to something else?

McCarthy more than likely will be let go after this season.

In fairness, he can only play the hand he has been dealt. Ted Thompson is the root cause for what's happening in GB right now.

When he took over as GM, he was considered a draft guru, and his philosophy was "draft and develop," but, ironically, as a whole his last 5-6 drafts have been horrible (especially the early rounds). Eventually, those misses catch up with you, particularly when you are drafting near the end of the round every season.

In terms of starters, the Packers are solid at QB and LT and one WR, and they have some intriguing young talent at RB and CB. Every other position on the team is suspect and the depth across the board is poor. A new coach isn't going to change the talent level, and they need some sweeping talent changes along the whole roster. No quick fix there.

First off, McCarthy is a horrible coach. Terrible with in-game adjustments, and more often than not fails to have the team properly prepared. He calls the plays, and is awlful at it. They normally do well against lesser teams, but get exposed in the playoffs. He has had TWO HOF quarterbacks and only one Super Bowl appearance.

Second, Ted Thompson was one of..if not the...worst GM in the league. He did not draft well. He found a few middle round gems, but his early round picks were mostly busts. With a few exceptions, he refused to use free agency. He had a chance at Randy Moss in 2007 for something like a 4th round pick, and passed (even though Favre was willing to give up some of his salary to sign him). He refused to give Rodgers a quality offensive line. He refused to address the glaring holes on defense. He kept Dom Capers as DC even though Dom's defenses were horrible.

Had Aaron Rodgers not fell to him in the draft, and had he not signed Charles Woodsen (on of the FEW free agents he signed, other than some JAG's), the Packers not only would not have sniffed even one Super Bowl, but would have probably not even made the playoffs most years. Aaron Rodgers has carried the Packers.

He’s not doing great and his snaps have been going down. He clearly has ball hocking tendencies but he doesn’t have the speed and agility to cover elite WRs.

But, you are absolutely correct, Rodgers has carried this team and made everyone, including the coaches, look better than they actually are.

The talent level remains the biggest flaw with this team, though. Coaches can only do so much. There's an old saying that applies well: "You can't make chicken salad with chicken shit."

It is playoff or bust for McCarthy. How many subtle digs can Rodgers make towards McCarthy through the media? It has been quite a bit the last couple of years. Btw, Rodgers hasn't played that well this year. Imo, McCarthy's play calling is a little outdated. Look at every successful NFL team right now and they can use the screen game as a extension of the running game. Packers DON'T need to sign Le'Veon Bell, but they do need a cheaper version of him and finding that type of guy shouldn't be that difficult.

I've been there one before, and, yes, went through the museum.

We waited until this year to go back due to the new Titletown District construction, including a very nice hotel next to the stadium. I was hoping there would be some snow so the kids could enjoy the new slide, but it's not looking good for snow, unless they utilize a snow generator like many ski resorts.
