Jonathan Vilma Suing Roger Goodell

If he thinks he has a case it really is his only recourse. He needs to get a judge to agree to hear the case. If he gets that then he will force Goodell to actually reveal his evidence, which has has not done to this point.

He can't sue on any other grounds because of the CBA.

I don't think getting Goodell even more P.O.'d at you would be a good move. The dude isn't afraid to come down with the hammer. And if they do have evidence to support what Vilma did, which you would have to think they would, Vilma is going to come out of this looking like an ever bigger dbag when that info is released.

I don't think Goodell could get away with levying an additional punishment. But I also think that it will be hard to get a judge to take the case.

If this suit goes forward, some NFL players are going to be very upset with Vilma, due to the discovery process.

Good for him, Vilma is being punished for the NFL being negligent on head injuries all these years more so than his actions.

Goodell is trying to protect the shield, the future viability of the league is at stake. Do you blame Goodell?

Soooo.... If Goodell releases his intell and Vilma is shown to be lying. Does that give every person that was on the hit list a right to Sue Vlima for conspiracy to commit harm, attempted battery or something along those lines? The intent of the game isn't go hurt players. It would be the equivalent to trying to hurt someone in your own work environment. The bigger difference they have an easier time covering it up because of the physicality of the sport.
