Jon, what is Deace claiming over on the

Because he can name his job and name his price, and Michigan is a lousy job that doesn't pay much. It's common sense more than anything.

Rich Rod was making $2.5 million at Michigan. Harbaugh currently gets half that at Stanford. NFL teams can easily pay more than $2.5 million, but they also have much quicker trigger fingers. You might put up with fan frustrations (like Ferentz does here), but ultimately you've got decent job security (Harbaugh will get some slack at Michigan, as well).

It almost seems like the farm"girl" vitriol toward Steve Deace comes from the perspective of a woman scorned?

Michigan is a lousy job?? Wow I have heard it all.

To quote Obi-Wan; "From a certain point of view". If you're that guy coaching at SDSU, then Michigan is as enticing as the exhaust post at the end of the trench. However, if you're Harbaugh, already coaching a top 5 program and having no fewer than 4 NFL teams bidding against each other for your services, Michigan is as appealing as a Sarlacc pit.

Stanford is not a top 5 program. They're a top 5 team this year but he's losing his "best QB to enter the draft since Elway" quarterback.

Now is the time to make the jump. Whether it be to a bigger college program (Michigan) or to the NFL.

Stanford will be in the top 10 to start next season, and will be a better team than Michigan for, at the very least, the next 3-4 years.

If Luck comes back, definitely.

If Luck leaves, not buying it. They'll be a 12-15 type preseason team without Luck.

If Stanford and Luck return, they'd be top 6.

Which is much, much higher than Michigan would be. Right now, Stanford is a better job than Michigan, and if Harbaugh stays there, he can build them into a powerhouse.
