Jon walters

I'm a Hawkeye forever, but Jon Walters is a great guy and a very good play-by-play guy, and a heck of a lot better than Gary Dolphin, who absolutely stinks in my opinion (little emotion; inaccurate; makes tons of mistakes, never gives down, distance or time, etc. etc. etc. ).

I wish we had Walters doing the Iowa games instead of Dolphin. Without Polodak, you would have absolutely no idea

you ever listen to walters and crew doing a game when they are losing badly towards the end? (yeah, ok, that is the most prevalent situation) sometimes emotion is a bad thing. And IMO he is too emotional when they are winning or when they score a big play (like a first down).

I'll take Dolph.

Man, I'm sorry, it is absolute work listening to Dolphin.

Just once in your life, tune into a radio broadcast of the Ohio State play-by-play guy, or Michigan. What a difference.

Also, the SEC guys are absolute pros. John Ferguson, the radio voice of the LSU Tigers, just retired. He was the best of all time.

not true. it's not so much the play by play stuff, its the constant comparison to "big bro".

gary dolph makes more homer type comments and crybaby excuses than half the people on this message board during games.

when does he make comparisons to "big bro" when ISU isn't playing "big bro" ?

So you're saying he's honest?

I just got a kick out of it. I have to work on most weekends of the season, and sometimes WHO doesn't come in really well. That game was one of those occasions last year, and I had to listen to Walters. He calls a good game, and Heft is pretty good as well. Ben Bruns is a ******* idiot - I remember when they went to halftime, Bruns saying that ISU "dominating every phase of the game" or something to that effect, but failed to mention that Iowa was winning the game.

Dolphin is the man, I love listening to him and Ed on Saturdays. Walters is just like most Clone fans in that he is so insecure about his team that he overcompensates by being an *** and never admitting anything they do is wrong.

With that said however guys like Dolp, Walters, and even Miller are fans for pay at this point. Throw enough money at them and any of them would switch in a heartbeat.

When I get stuck listening to games on the radio, I'd rather have someone that expresses lots of emotion and gets excited because it sets the tone for those who can't watch. If he was on t.v., I'd probably agree, but he's the listener's eyes.

Walters is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. And I'm sure Dolph is too.

However, Dolph is a horrible announcer. Just horrible.
