Jon - Is the open practice in Des Moines on 4-20 cancelled???

At first I was planning on driving to Iowa City for the open practice. Then I started planning around the 4/20 date at Valley Stadium. Now, I'm about ready to throw up my hands and say screw it. Wife keeps asking if it's ok to plan for something else that weekend and I keep telling her I don't know yet and then she gets mad at me.

Hey Kirk, so far your way of thanking the western part of the state is really ******* me off!

I feel your pain, but nobody should really expect anything different from kirt on this or anything else.

Buddy, it's the spring practice. Make it sound important, then go to the tulip festival or whatever she wants to. Keep the goodwill in your back pocket and parlay it into a Rose Bowl trip come January.

I think this is the best advice I have ever seen you post on here. It's so good I would almost expect to pay a retainer just to obtain it.

"Iowa football practice in Des Moines has been moved to Sunday April 14th at 2:30. Valley Stadium." per @trentcondon on Twitter[/QUOTE]

Sunday? Well that's no fun

That's actually a pretty good idea. Now we just need Rudock to come in and start going all Colt McCoy on the field and get to the Rose Bowl.

That o-line is fixin' to be pretty salty, bud. I don't know how good our side of the Big Ten will be. Might just need Rudock to be along the lines of Chandler for us to have a shot. September might be bad with so many new guys, but I will hand it to Kurt, when the guy has his back against the ropes, the dude can pull out some miracles in October and November.

Oh, and one other thing, I don't think we make the Rose Bowl the legit way, but we are due for some good luck so maybe we can finish 6-2 or something and back in after Michigan or Nebraska gets embarrassed by OSU in the Big Ten title game and heads to the playoff (assuming that starts this year).

Well, the weekend of the 20th was the perfect weekend for them to hold it. Instead they moved it a week up which is the weekend I am in the Siouxer. That ******* sucks.

Wonder why they changed it? Was Barta getting too much blowback from tinydick Pollard?

No, there is a 4th and 5th grade flag football camp at Valley on the 20th and the gal who is in charge of scheduling the use of the field was out sick the day Barta called to reserve the field, so Valley said "cool, come on down" and then when the gal came back she waited until a few weeks before the event to tell everyone the field was already in use that day.

Iowa Football - taking a backseat to peewee football bince 2013.

Kirk said nothing is in stone. It has not been listed anywhere yet.

My old man is the deputy city manager for WDM - he mentioned over dinner last night that it was going to be cancelled and that the Hawks would be trying it again next year. Haven't seen it anywhere yet, but that isn't something he would just casually throw out there.

I thought your family was classy. The evening meal is supper.

So are we going to have one in Iowa City too, or just this stupid one where all of you guys get to see it?
