I've seen some rumors but haven't seen anything for sure one way or the other. Anyone got good info on the open practice??

Thanks

Nothing would say Iowa football like getting people excited for something like this and then not end up doing it.

False - nothing says Iowa football like even considering having an open practice in a high school stadium. That's like Northwestern level bad, but worse.

There is a big difference between having a practice in a high school stadium and playing games in a high school stadium which is how Northwestern does it.

Pretty sure they threw PR out the window when they scheduled the thing on 4/20.

I think what we're seeing with the 4/20 date is the evolution of Kirk's views on recreational drug use. Instead of fighting a hopless uphill battle he has decided to embrace the alternate views and find new paths ala Colorado and Washington and I have no doubt that he will be a tireless advocate.

At first I was planning on driving to Iowa City for the open practice. Then I started planning around the 4/20 date at Valley Stadium. Now, I'm about ready to throw up my hands and say screw it. Wife keeps asking if it's ok to plan for something else that weekend and I keep telling her I don't know yet and then she gets mad at me.

Hey Kirk, so far your way of thanking the western part of the state is really ******* me off!

The only thing worse than playing in a high school stadium is losing to a team that plays in a high school stadium. Kurt's turned that into an art form between all of the losses to the Clowns, the Cats and the directional Michigan schools.

Sounds familiar. I can relate. Can't they see how important Hawkeye sports is?

Update:

"Iowa football practice in Des Moines has been moved to Sunday April 14th at 2:30. Valley Stadium." per @trentcondon on Twitter

I try and tell her all the time. She always replies "Is it really that important?" I tell her "Well, it is to me" which makes me sound like a jack***. They should just know and not make us spell it out for them:)

Buddy, it's the spring practice. Make it sound important, then go to the tulip festival or whatever she wants to. Keep the goodwill in your back pocket and parlay it into a Rose Bowl trip come January.

Of course, the good will reservoir is illusory, because it is always trumped by the wife's next plan.

Well, whatever, I wouldn't ditch my wife for a spring practice but she knows if the Hawks ever make the Rose Bowl (or heaven forbid, the national title game) we're going.
