Agreed. I don't know how one can think that playing the passing lanes ins't good defense. It is taught from day 1 to stay between your man and the ball handler to prevent the pass to your man. It is defense 101, and if you can bait the pass to your guy and steal it, that is very good defense.

I didn't want my man to catch the ball so he couldn't break me down with the dribble and shoot.

He shot the ball well and did OK on the other facets of offense. But steals is NOT defense. Defense is getting into a position so your man doesn't do what he wants to do but instead does what YOU want him to do. Steals almost always occur because someone else played good defense and forced a bad pass.

I separated the two. I said he worked hard on defense (from what I saw). And got some steals. He played better defense than he has all yr. I know the team wasn't good that they were playing but he gave effort on defense. Against a team like this you could just coast on defense and he did not.

i do agree steals are overrated stat for defense. But he was giving more effort on defense than he has in the past. Steals being used as a factor of defense is why many people that don't understand defense think that some players better defenders than they are but I specifically talked about his effort and how well he had tried on defense in comparison to the rest of the year.

I'd rather Josh struggle at this point of the season instead of during the crucial conference games down the stretch. Josh is a big part of this team and will carry us when he gets hot in a few games this year

you must be fan of waiting for Hell to Freeze over as well.

I'm just fine with whatever, it's nutty to depend on him as a huge part of a team going in to the season. If he does well, great.

There was a time when I would be happy to never see him on the court again because for so long it seemed that whenever he was in there he'd chuck up a brick and we would wasted possessions with his misses. Then last year he had some very good games and proved his worth. So, we'll see...

Did you watch him shoot against UNC!? He virtually missed everything...that's not a gamer that's someone afraid of his own shadow who knows that in crunch time he's going to miss. But he had 2 epic misses against UNC and that's why he wasn't even sniffing PT down the stretch of that game.
