15 pts, with 4 three pointers. Probably ahead of Olgesby now.
Wait and see for me. Iowa is playing UMBC Retrievers.
Heck, even Ellingson is ahead of JO today, he's 1/1 for 3. JO is a disappointment, we can just hope he comes alive on some key games, that's all I hope for him this senior season.
I think Jok is actually under a lot of pressure to make shots to prove himself. That pressure can be almost as bad as the late pressure to win a game. I'm hoping this was a big step in him becoming a constant contributer. It really is difficult to take much away from a thirty point blow out. Make those three pointers in a one or two point game against top competition then you are talking. A player can relax knowing that even if they miss your going to win the game but the nerves show themselves if it's crunch time and a missed shot could be the difference between a win and a loss. The shooting in that North Carolina game was just ugly by both teams. I will give credit to both teams for playing great defense which no doubt played a big part in poor shooting performance. I do hope that Jok is now coming alive with his shooting as we really need a guard to step forward and present a challenge for opponents with their outside shooting. Ellingson looks very promising at this time.
Ellingson is 3 for 4 on the year now.
What i hate about jok is he usually is lost on defense, did it look better today? Or how about bradys defense? Thats probably why josh is ahead not just cause hes a senior.
I like Peter and Josh but Peter isnt pkaying himself up the chart. Fran has Peter at the 3 so if he isnt liking Uthoff then he comes in for him. Every time Peter goes in first it's at the 3. Josh goes in at the 2 so no, Peter isn't passing Josh. Yes I agree he's playing better after today but it's not related to him being the first one off the bench.
Without exaggeration, Brady might be our best 3 point shooter. He isn't a skinny needs 10 lbs freshman, either. If he stays healthy and can withstand a full season, he just may be the answer. I hope his foot injury isn't a chronic or recurring issue.
I'd rather Josh struggle at this point of the season instead of during the crucial conference games down the stretch. Josh is a big part of this team and will carry us when he gets hot in a few games this year
He worked hard on defense and got some steals. He also tried to feed the post even when he was shooting so well. I think the offense is starting to click for him.
He shot the ball well and did OK on the other facets of offense. But steals is NOT defense. Defense is getting into a position so your man doesn't do what he wants to do but instead does what YOU want him to do. Steals almost always occur because someone else played good defense and forced a bad pass.
Not to defend Jok's defense, but I think steals are a big part of defense. Stepping into the passing lane and getting the steal instead of getting beat takes timing. Look at White and how he creates havoc getting into the passing lane. That's defense.
