Jok On the Long Road Back

Hope ol' Roy doesn't go hard after this kid when/if he returns to health. I don't like our chances when Williams is involved.

Stay away from Iowa, Roy!

I think it would be awesome if Roy went after Jok and put Frans recruiting skills to the test again. For one that means Jok really is one of the best players in this recruiting class and secondly for Fran to get 2 in a row away from Roy would be something special.

the other big knock ive heard in addition to his injuries is that he just doesnt work that hard. while his brother busted his *** in school and on the court to maximize his potential, peter doesnt really exhibit those qualities.

Just by looking at Jok physically over the past year it is apparent that he has worked hard in the weight room recently. He has probably gained 20+ pounds of muscle since he transferred to Valley.

I heard this after his injuries not before it. You don't get to be as good as he was without working hard. I think the injuries kind of got him down and he started feeling bad for himself plus it sounds like he was worried about hurting his knees again. I think it helped him out a ton to go play for Horner. It seems that he has gotten him back on track.

I graduated HS with his brother a couple years ago, and he did work really hard.

But I don't think it's fair to say that Pete doesn't work hard. Injured or not, he isn't that explosive and he lacks eye-opening athleticism. Players that are as good as him, lacking NBA type jumping ability and etc., are typically hard workers. I think Pete is a hard worker, as he has forged a great looking jumpshot and has clearly put on some muscle in the weight room.

I think (I know, because I've spent time around him and played against him in some open-gyms) that he has a bad attitude, plain and simple. The 'bad attitude' label is a bit unfair for many reasons. One being that he has been labeled a local, and then national, phenom from an early age. I was a sophomore in HS he was in middle school and playing pick up with the older guys. Needless to say, nobody wanted to let the hot-shot 13 year old score on them. I have always thought he had a bad attitude, but upon further examination I may be wrong. Instead, it may just be a chip on his shoulder that he plays with. Anybody that has played with him would tell you that he isn't very emotional at all (his brother was for example). And his style may come across as nonchalant and with minimal effort, but it's not true. It just comes easy for him.

I think there are times that he has bad body language on the court, and it was always bothersome to me. While he may be an unselfish passer and teammate with his play, I don't think he is always a good teammate in other ways. I don't know what to think of him as a player. I took an automatic disliking to him when he transferred away from my HS for no reason at all.

I think that if he returns fully from injury and can improve upon his leg strength and become more explosive, then I would love to see him in an Iowa uniform.

Thanks!

Yay! :)

Van Coleman did a writeup on his site after Jok's first day,and said he did well considering it was the first matchup vs high level competition in a long time. Nice jumper, and some good spin moves coupled with good feeds to teammates for buckets.
Overall,a good first day for Peter.
