The McDonald's case is actually one where the system worked well.
And by the way, Joe Hazelwood wasn't drunk when the Exxon Valdez went aground, he wasn't even at the helm.

In the course of the trial it came out through McDonald's executives' testimony that they deliberately served their coffee at temperatures, and I quote, "unfit for human consumption." In fact hundreds of people had suffered serious burns. The jury was p!ssed and punished McDonald's for their wanton behavior. The judge as noted reduced the award.
If there are lawyers soliciting these football players, they are engaged in unethical conduct and subjecting themselves to disciplinary action.
