Joe Lunardi Bracketology after beating the Illini; 2/25/2015

I disagree with everything above...and I have seen them play multiple times. I just haven't seen them play anyone as good as Indiana, Illinois or Purdue...and those are middle of the pack teams in the Big 10. I think they will win their 1st game in the NCAA Tournament and lose their 2nd game...will have 2 days to prepare rather than weeks. I will be pulling for them. But I think they are somewhere in the top 32 not the top 16.

We are actually Top 10.

I couldn't have said it better. I might add that we don't lose to Northwestern.

I might add that we didn't lose to Evansville. We can do this all day. The point is that if UNI had to play two games against Wisconsin, two games against Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan State, Texas, Syracuse, North Carolina, etc instead of Evansville, Loyola, Southern Illinois, Bradley, etc, there's no way UNI is top 10 or even in the Top half of the B1G.

But hey, UNI is a nice little story....just like Drake was 7 years ago. Have your time in the sun until Tuttle, Washpun, etc graduate and then come back and let's see where you are.

It's been 3 years since iowa has lost to team as bad as Evansville.

Again, I am not arguing that UNI is good, they are very good and if I'm being completely honest, they would be a hard win for Iowa even if the Hawks played well (not to mention they did whoop us already). What I am arguing is crazy pants Mcgee stating they could win the B10 this year and would be a contender yearly going forward. Hey, it's all conjecture on my part, but outside of the magic occaisional Cinderella school, smaller conference teams, even the really good ones, are gonna struggle to get past middle of the road in a power 5 conf, outside of the occaisional "magic" year.

Makes for good convo though.

Case in point: Creighton. Where are they without POY McDermott now that they're in a legit conference?

You can't just make that kind of comparison and have it be fact. We have beaten two Big 10 teams, one ACC team, and two A10 teams. The highest score from the Big 10 against us.....44 points. We obliterated Northwestern and they beat you.

Hey Dean, come on man, they will have Lohaus, Morgan, Bohannon, so I think they'll be ok.....(roll of the eyes).....:p

I'm going to Remember this post, 2 years from now.

How ironic it might be.......and I'm sure NEI will own it, right?

That being said, I really hope we win a couple games in the NC2A and
get another shot at the Panthers, in 2015. We can beat them. There's no doubt.

GO HAWKS

Hypothetical land here. Say Iowa runs the table from now till say the BIG title game and say they lose to Wisky there. What's Iowa's seed then? 5ish? They'd be one of the hottest teams going if that were to play out. I just want them above the 8-9 seed line if possible... I don't want the chance of playing KY in the 2nd round real bad...

But we've beat 9 Big 10 teams, a better ACC team, and the same A10 team.

UNI beat Iowa, so you will always have that. But please dont compare schedules, cause that isnt even clise.Enjoy your success.

I would never compare conference MVC vs Big 10 schedules that would be dumb right? Those are the uncontrollable. But the OOC schedule is 100% controllable. Iowa plays Longwood and UNI plays VCU, Stephen F Austin, Northwestern(which you lost to).

I think you just gave yourself away.

Yes. It would be dumb, quite dumb. Yes, Longwood was one game, just like Morgan State was just one game for UNI. We also played and beat UNC, lost a very competitive close game against Syracuse, so not sure what your point is, yet again.

But yes, as you've mentioned a few times, UNI beat Iowa and NW(who beat Iowa and is playing pretty well lately). Both of which actually help your strength of schedule, which says a lot.

UNI is good, live the dream. Here's to all the Iowa teams playing well in March

Weird thought, NW would probably be 3rd in the MVC.

Again, UNI beat Iowa, so there's that.

A small part of me wants a shot at Kentucky. We aren't winning the title so a small chance at one of the more memorable upsets ever could be fun.
