jNW passing game and holding

How many of you thought jNW's Off line held a lot? I do and they are noted for it for the last 20 years. During the telecast of Mich and jNW this year the sideline reporter was saying the Mich coaches were all over the refs to watch for jNW holding on offense and defense and Mich started to get a few flags their way. But their OFF lineman are pretty good at grabbing jersey around the sternum area and concealing the holds, AJ and Hesse were held way more than the one time that was called. My buddy and I thought the refs thought that Fox TV just has too many long TV timeouts so they wanted to speed the game along. :)

I am not saying this is what lost the game for Iowa (bad offense lost the game for Iowa) but I think it helped jNW continue some drives and run the ball better. The people around me in the stands saw a lot of holding.

I think NW has one of the better pass route games in the big 10 as they always have a good outlet receiver for their QBs to dump and get a few yards, I thought the hawk Dee was pretty good in coverage but on key downs NW can get a guy free. The NW qbs are good at finding the open guys, they are mobile to buy time and make plays.

On the other end to the spectrum Iowa has a hard time getting guys open and sometimes finding the open receiver.

That was yesterday in a nutshell

I thought we did a much better job than usual of keeping their passing game until control. It took an unreal individual effort by Skowronek to finally make their passing game matter.

It was Bowser that killed us. And that third and nine run just prior to the TD pass.

And the incompetence of the "Dean of the Big Ten" to not force a review of a pretty obvious fumble. They scored the very next play.
